Menurutnya, defisiensi besi saling berkaitan dengan ketidaknormalan fungsi imun, namun sulit digambarkan relevansi dan tingkat keparahannya dalam studi observasi. Insiden infeksi pada anak yang defisien zat besi menurun ketika anak diberikan suplemen zat gizi Oppenheimer, 2001. Betapa besar pentingnya pengaruh vitamin A dan Fe terhadap kesanggupan tubuh untuk menangk is mikroorganisme penyebab timbulnya infeksi. Fungsi imunologi sangat penting, namun penelitian imunitas belum banyak dilakukan, artinya belum sistematik dan komprehensif. Masih banyak penelitian yang harus dilakukan dalam bidang ini. 1.4 1.4

Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian biskuit fortifikasi kepada anak balita selama 16 minggu 4 bulan di wilayah Kecamatan Dramaga Kabupaten Bogor memberikan dampak sebagai berikut: 1. Intik konsumsi vitamin A dan zat besi Fe secara nyata meningkat lebih tinggi p0,05. 2. Pasca intervensi, kadar hemoglobin dan ferritin secara nya ta lebih tinggi p0,05 pada kelompok perlakuan daripada plasebo. Peningkatan tersebut dampak dari fortifikan vitamin A dan zat besi Fe yang dapat diserap oleh anak. 3. Kadar retinol lebih tinggi peningkatannya p0,05 setelah pemberian biskuit fortifikasi, yang dapat menunjukkan penyerapan vitamin A yang baik. 4. Tidak terdapat peningkatan status gizi anak secara antropometri p0,05 baik pada kelompok perlakuan maupun plasebo. 5. Pada kelompok perlakuan terjadi peningkatan respons imun anak balita yang lebih tinggi p0,05 setelah pemberian biskuit fortifikasi. Saran 1. Biskuit fortifikasi dapat digunakan sebagai makanan alternatif bagi anak balita untuk meningkatkan status gizi mikro. 2. Untuk menghindari kebosanan anak terhadap biskuit maka perlu divariasikan bentuk dan cita rasanya. 3. Perlu dilakukan penelitian efektifitas biskuit fortifikasi. 4.
