reference for further research. 2.
Practically, the result of this research can be used by English teacher, language researchers, and other practitioners as an alternative technique
for selecting suitable technique or method in teaching speaking in junior high school.
1.5 Scope
This study focused on students‟ perception through seven elements in
implementation of CTL. There are six classes of tenth grade in SMAN 4 Bandar Lampung and the writer choose one class which have same English teacher. The
writer assumed that English teacher understand about CTL and also applies in teaching learning process. The writer conducted the research. It can be inferred
that the teacher who implemented CTL English Bachelor holders, and possess substantial on the implementation of CTL.
1.6 Definition of Terms
There are some terms that were used in this research and to make it
clearly, some definitions of terms were presented as follow

Contextual Teaching Learning CTL is a conception of teaching and learning that helps teachers relate subject matter matter content to real
word situation; and motivates students to make connections between

3. Speaking is one of ways to express our feeling and deliver idea.
Argawati 2014:74, Speaking is an activity used by someone to
communicate with others.
4. Perception can be defined as our recognition and interpretation of
sensory information. Perception also includes how we respond to the information. We can think of perception as a process where we take in
sensory information from our environment and use that information in order to interact with our environment. Perception allows us to take
the sensory information in and make it into something meaningful. Perception is equated with reality for most practical purposes and
guides human behavior in general.
II. LITERATURE REVIEW
This chapter discusses some theories such as, speaking, teaching speaking, contextual teaching learning CTL, perception , perception in English teaching
learning, and theoritical assumptions.
