55 Somebody or something couldn’t distract them in performing the task. They could also adapt with the changing environment because they were gotten used to it. In their final cycle 2 test, the writer saw a good performance in the students’ behavior. The behavior observation wasn’t that much because all of the students seemed confident in finishing the test. The writer instructed them not to cheat and they obeyed it without any complain or anything. In the end of the test, the writer asked about their vocabulary learning progress and they thought that it was very good to understand the vocabulary. Furthermore, they wanted to learn English vocabulary through listening to English song again. 4.4 The Analysis of Students Vocabulary Understanding in the Pre-cycle 1 test, Cycle 1 test, and Final cycle 2 test The writer made the test for the students to measure students understanding toward vocabulary. The test itself consisted of 40 items and each item was split into 4 categories. The 4 categories were: the usage, the synonym, the antonym, and translation.

1. The Usage

The usage was the questions which had grammatical understanding inside it, especially in narrative text. This kind of question was included in the tests. The total questions in the test that had this thing was 13 questions. Narrative text was a text which told about the past activity. So, the usage questions in the test focused on the use of past tense and regular and irregular verbs. The students’ achievement comparison in usage questions can be seen in the chart below: 56 Chart 4.4 Usage Questions Comparison from Pre-cycle 1 test to Final cycle 2 test The students’ achievement especially in usage questions was significantly improved from 37. 17 to 92.56. It was hard to improve this kind of vocabulary to the students. It was because students didn’t learn past-tense when the writer taught them. So, the writer formulated activity to improve their understanding. The activity liked question and answer session, and the writer asked them to find the past-tense in the lyric, then asked them to find its present tense. The writer also did some discussions with the students about this kind of tense.

2. The Synonym and the Antonym

In the tests, the writer also used the synonym and antonym elements to measure students’ vocabulary. It is more complex than the people can think. Vocabulary is also about the words related to words, the opposite of the words, and also about the translation of the words itself. The writer called it as the complexity of the vocabulary. The synonym questions which contained in the tests were 10 questions. Some questions were made in multiple choices, and the rest was made in match making questions. The antonym questions were the same with the synonym questions. It was made in multiple choices and in match making questions, but the quantity of the questions was reduced to 9 questions. Their achievement only improved from 76.33 to 88.33. It was different with students’ achievement in antonym questions from cycle 1 test to final cycle 2 test. Their percentage improved around 21.11. In the pre-cycle 1 test test, these kinds of elements were very hard for them to answer. It was proved from their achievement in the pre-cycle 1 test. In the synonym questions they only got 22.33 and in the antonym questions, they only got 28.51. Their achievement in pre-cycle 1 test for these 2 elements was different with their achievement in translation and usage questions. At least, their achievement translation and usage in their pre-cycle 1 test more than these elements. When the writer knew the scores from their pre-cycle 1 test, the writer prepared some games for them to improve their synonym and antonym understanding. The writer prepared match making game, and made some synonym games for the students. The writer also did some discussions about these elements. In the cycle 1 test, their scores improved drastically. However, they needed more improvement. So, in the cycle 2 the writer prepared more about it.
