6 1989 BCH Code Amendments MEPC.3327 A. Adoption The Marine Environment Protection Committee at its twenty-seventh session March 1989 adopted by resolution MEPC.3327, in accordance with article VI of the Protocol and article 16 of the Convention, amendments to the Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk BCH Code.

B. Entry into force

The Marine Environment Protection Committee determined, in accordance with article 162fiii and gii of the 1973 Convention, that the amendments shall be deemed to have been accepted on 12 April 1990 and will enter into force on 13 October 1990 unless prior to the former date one-third or more of the Parties or the Parties the combined merchant fleets of which constitute fifty per cent or more of the gross tonnage of the worlds merchant fleet, have communicated to the Organization their objections to the amendments. No such notification was received and the amendments accordingly entered into force on 13 October 1990. 7 1989 Annex II Amendments MEPC.3427 A. Adoption The Marine Environment Protection Committee at its twenty-seventh session March 1989 adopted by resolution MEPC.3427, in accordance with article VI of the Protocol and article 16 of the Convention, amendments to the Annex of the Protocol of 1978 relating to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973 appendices II and III of Annex II of MARPOL 7378.

The Marine Environment Protection Committee determined, in accordance with article 162fiii and gii of the 1973 Convention, that the amendments shall be deemed to have been accepted on 12 April 1990 and will enter into force on 13 October 1990 unless prior to the former date one-third or more of the Parties or the Parties the combined merchant fleets of which constitute fifty per cent or more of the gross tonnage of the worlds merchant fleet, have communicated to the Organization their objections to the amendments. Adoption The Marine Environment Protection Committee at its twenty-eighth session October 1989 adopted by resolution MEPC.3628, in accordance with article VI of the Protocol and article 16 of the Convention, amendments to the Annex of the Protocol of 1978 relating to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973 amendments to Annex V of MARPOL 7378.

The Marine Environment Protection Committee determined, in accordance with article 162fiii and gii of the 1973 Convention, that the amendments shall be deemed to have been accepted on 17 August 1990 and will enter into force on 18 February 1991 unless prior to the former date one-third or more of the Parties or the Parties the combined merchant fleets of which constitute fifty per cent or more of the gross tonnage of the worlds merchant fleet, have communicated to the Organization their objections to the amendments. No such notification was received and the amendments accordingly entered into force on 18 February 1991. 9 1990 Annexes I, II, HSSC Amendments MEPC.3929 A. Adoption The Marine Environment Protection Committee at its twenty-ninth session March 1990 adopted by resolution MEPC.3929, in accordance with article VI of the Protocol and article 16 of the Convention, amendments to the Annex of the Protocol of 1978 relating to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973 introduction of the Harmonized System of Survey and Certification to Annexes I and II of MARPOL 7378.
