A. Frame of Theory
1. Concept of Teaching English as a Foreign Language
English is learned in Indonesia by talking about the grammatical rules of English and errors are always corrected. For language learners in Indonesia, where English is not
spoken in the society, accuracy is really the focus in learning English. It is not the case when people learn English in countries where English is spoken in the society,
such as in the United States or Malaysia. People in those countries emphasize on the ability and fluency in communication of daily lives.

English is a foreign language, so it is not familiar yet for the beginner to learn. We need an accurate method that gives enjoyable feeling for the students, so it can give
the motivation for the students to learn English. With the strong motivation, it can give best result of learning yet, teachers have to know many kinds of teaching
techniques, and they must know to implement the techniques in the class.

English is an international language mea ns for communicating and expressing one‟s
feelings anytime and anywhere. Moreover, English is one of the subjects that compulsory to be learnt by students in Indonesia, especially for junior and senior high
school students, while for elementary school, it is as a local content subject. It is also as the first foreign language in our country that should be taught to the students from
elementary level up to university students.
Knowing the benefits of learning English, teacher as the main media in educating the students, should have interesting ways and techniques to make them easier to learn
English. As Nikolov says, quality of teaching is particularly important.

It is true that it is not such an easy thing to teach students English at school with a large number of
students as well as limited school hours for the subject.
Based on the statements above the writer assumes that teaching English is a foreign language, so the teacher teach English language must be interested, the teacher can
