43 conflicts, they will always try to solve the conflicts. The Bennet family has
shown, in the novel, their struggles in every conflict that they have. It is not easy to face and solve every conflict that they have, but if they do not do their best to
solve it, then it will never be solved. The meaning of struggle is determined by the ways someone overcome his conflicts.
B. Implications
In this section, the writer gives the implication of the study to education. Literature has an important position in learning a language. A novel as a creative
literary works is to be used as teaching-learning materials in high schools. Most of the literary works used are short stories and poems. Through literary works,
students can learn the language. This study is related to struggle, especially the meaning of struggle. In relation to education, the writer could say struggle is also
needed in the education. We cannot be successful if we do not struggle in our education period. As the writer told before, the meaning of struggle is the way
people survive from the oppression and the high class people. Therefore, the novel can be another source of teaching-learning materials.
The writer suggests the use of Pride and Prejudice novel as the material in teaching reading for grade XII senior high school students. In using the novel as a
reading material, the teacher may choose some parts in the novel as reading materials for the students. The reading activity could be done individually or in
groups. The reading passages must be distributed a week before the class, so that the students can read the reading passages at home. The students have to read the
44 passage before the class and the teacher has to explain what they will do in the
next meeting. By reading the novel, they can improve their reading skill, get the values
and lessons of struggle, and know deeper about narrative text. This novel also can help the students to know the characters deeper, because in this novel the students
can see how the characters play the important roles in the story. If it is used and chosen appropriately, it can be used to teach reading through three activities:
discussion, presentation, and analysis. Those activities are able to encourage the students to identify the specific information and the characters in the novel.
