KEGIATAN PENGOLAHAN KOLEKSI BUKU TERCETAK DI PERPUSTAKAAN BALAI INFORMASI DAN TEKNOLOGI LIPI BANDUNG.
ABSTRAK
Laporan tugas akhir ini membahas mengenai Kegiatan Pengolahan Koleksi Buku
Tercetak di Perpustakaan Balai Informasi dan Teknologi LIPI Bandung.
Observasi ini bertujuan untuk mengetaui proses pengolahan bahan pustaka mulai
dari inventarisasi koleksi, klasifikasi, penentuan indeks dan subjek, katalogisasi,
pengecapan, memasukkan data ke dalam sistem aplikasi, pembuatan barcode,
hinga penjajaran buku. Dalam observasi ini penulis menggunakan metode
deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, studi pustaka dan
dokumentasi. Hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa proses inventarisasi koleksi
dilakukan sebanyak dua kali oleh sekretaris BIT LIPI dan pustakawan. Kegiatan
klasifikasi dan penentuan subjek dilakukan berdasarkan sistem internasional yang
mengacu pada Universal Decimal Classification dan Library of Congress Subject
Heading. Pencacatan deskripsi buku menggunakan lembar pemrosesan buku yang
nantinya akan dijadikan sebagai dokumen rekam ISO sedangan katalognya
menggunakan entry data yang dimasukkan ke dalam komputer berbasis OPAC.
Penjajaran bahan pustaka dilakukan dengan sistem tertentu agar pemanfaatannya
opmtimal. Dari uraian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pengoahan
koleksi merupakan kegiatan teknis yang membutuhkan ketelitian yang tinggi
dimana aktivitasnya merupakan bagian yang penting agar bahan pustaka dapat
dilayankan dan digunakan oleh pemustaka secara maksimal.

ABSTRACT
This final report is to discusses about the Activities of Processing Printed Books
Collection in the library of Technology Information Center of LIPI Bandung. This
observation aims to know processing of library materials from inventory collection,
classification, determination a subject and index, cataloging, stamp seal, entered data
into the application system, manufacture of barcode, until juxtaposition book. In this
observation the author uses descriptive method with data collection through
interviews, library research and documentation. Observations show that the inventory
collection process is done twice by secretary and librarian. Activity classification and
determination of the subject conducted by an international system that refers to the
Universal Decimal Classification and the Library of Congress Subject Headings.
Registration of description of the book using the books processing sheet which will
be used as document ISO while the catalog records using the data entry that entered
into a computer-based OPAC. Juxtaposition of library materials is done with a
particular system so that the utilization opmtimal. From the description it can be
concluded that the activity of processing collection is a technical activity that requires
high accuracy in which the activity is an important part of that library materials can
be administered and used by the visitors to the fullest.
