ABSTRACT
Recording and reporting of PWS KIA ( local area monitoring maternal
and children health) in the region Puskesmas Simalingkar was not complete
because data primary healthcare centers (pustu) did not arrive on time. Local
Area Monitoring of MCH program is a management tool that has been developed
by the Ministry of Health of Indonesia, which serves to detect the cause of the
premature infant and maternal mortality. With early detection, the cause of death
can be avoided and result in reduced maternal and infant mortality. This study
aims to explain the role of midwife Coordinator leadership with performance of
midwife in recording and reporting of PWS KIA in Puskesmas Simalingkar.
The research use qualitative method by using in-depth interview and
direct observation to PWS ( Local Area Monitoring) recording and reporting
activity. Key informants Midwife Coordinator and Midwife healthcare centers and
informant triangulasi Head of Puskesmas and Patient.
The result of the research indicates that the recording of PWS KIA is
still incomplete which is on mother card and baby card is almost unused and
reporting is delayed from schedule which has been determined because of the
number of forms that must be filled and the KIA (Maternal and Children Health)
officers have to spend their own cost for KIA service form. Midwife Coordinator
as the responsible PWS program KIA still not maximally carry out its role as a
leader in providing motivation and supervision. Healthcare centers midwife has
not received any training. Success in the completeness of recording and reporting
is influenced by the completeness and accuracy of reporting healthcare centers
midwives to puskesmas.
It is advisable to seek MCH training, allocate budgets in recording and
reporting of PWS KIA, complementing facilities and equipment at puskesmas as
well as in pustu and enhancing the leadership role of midwife coordinator in
enforcing discipline for pustu midwife to collect reports on time.
