FORMULASI SEDIAAN KRIM SARI TOMAT
(Solanum lycopersicum L.) DAN UJI EFEK ANTI–AGING
ABSTRAK

Latar Belakang: Proses menua merupakan suatu proses fisiologis yang dapat
terjadi pada semua organ tubuh termasuk kulit. Tomat merupakan sumber vitamin
A, B, C dan E, mineral, serat, senyawa fenolik, dan karotenoid yang memiliki
kemampuan sebagai antioksidan sehingga memungkinkan bermanfaat dalam
memperlambat proses penuaan. Namun kurangnya informasi terhadap tomat
menyebabkan masyarakat Indonesia memandangnya hanya sebagai buah yang dijual
begitu saja tanpa ada produk olahan dalam bidang kosmetik dari buah tersebut.
Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan membuat sediaan krim tipe m/a dan menguji
efektivitas anti-aging pada kulit.
Metode: Tomat di jus dengan menggunakan juicer. Sari tomat dikeringkan dengan
menggunakan freeze dryer pada suhu -40°C dan tekanan 2 atm. Formula sediaan
krim anti-aging terdiri dari propilen glikol, natrium edetat, TEA, vaselin, setil
alkohol, asam stearat, gliseril monostearat, butil hidroksi toluen, nipagin, parfum,
aquadest, sari tomat dengan konsentrasi yang digunakan adalah 5%, 7,5%, 10%, dan
12%. Kemudian sediaan yang dibuat dibandingkan dengan blanko (dasar krim) dan
olay (krim dipasaran). Pengujian krim meliputi uji homogenitas, tipe emulsi, iritasi
kulit, pH, stabilitas penyimpanan dalam suhu kamar selama 90 hari dan uji efek

anti-aging menggunakan skin analyzer dan moisture checker selama empat minggu.
Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa formulasi krim sari tomat 5, 7,5, 10,
dan 12% dapat diformulasi menjadi sediaan krim dengan tipe emulsi m/a. Uji
homogenitas menunjukkan bahwa sediaan krim yang dihasilkan adalah homogen.
pH sediaan berkisar 5,4 - 5,9 dan stabil selama penyimpanan 90 hari. Hasil analisa
statistik krim sari tomat dengan blanko memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan (p ≤
0,05), dimana krim sari tomat mampu memberikan efek sebagai anti-aging dengan
kadar air kulit yang meningkat, kulit semakin halus, pori-pori kulit mengecil dan
noda berkurang. Efektivitas paling baik sebagai anti-aging adalah krim sari tomat
12% yang mampu meningkatkan kadar air dari kering menjadi normal (28,66
menjadi 35,33); mengurangi kekasaran kulit dari normal menjadi halus (34,66
menjadi 29,33); mengecilkan pori-pori dari sedang menjadi kecil (32,33 menjadi
22,33); dan mengurangi noda dari beberapa noda menjadi sedikit noda (31,66
menjadi 22,00).
Kesimpulan: Sari tomat dapat diformulasikan dalam bentuk sediaan krim dengan
tipe emulsi minyak dalam air dan sari tomat dapat memberikan aktivitas anti-aging.

FORMULATION TOMATO JUICE (Solanum lycopersicum L.) CREAM
AND EVALUATION OF ANTI–AGING EFFECTS
ABSTRACT

Background: Aging is a natural process in all of the body organ including the
skin. Tomato is a source of vitamin A, B, C and E, minerals, fiber, phenolic
compounds, and carotene which have the ability as an antioxidant therefore it is
probably use full for slowing down the aging process. But the lack of
information of the tomato caused Indonesian society looked just as fruit
without any field products in prossed cosmetic from the fruit.
Purpose: This research was to make the cream preparations of type o/w and to
determined the effectivity of anti-aging cream on skin.
Methods: Tomato juice was obtained by using a juicer. Tomato juice was dried
using freeze dryer at -40°C temperature and 2 atm pressure. Formulation of antiaging cream preparation consist of propylene glycol, natrium edetate, TEA, vaseline,
cetyl alcohol, stearate acid, glyceryl monostearate, butylated hydroxytoluene,
nipagin, parfum, aquadest, and concentrations of tomato juice were used are 5%,
7.5%, 10%, 12% and then they were compared with blank product and a product
which contains olay. Some test inspection including were performed on the product

were physical quality homogenity test, the type of emulsion, skin irritation, pH,
storage stability at room temperature for 90 days were conducted and was tested the
effect of anti-aging using a skin analyzer and moisture checker for four weeks.
Results: The concentration of tomato juice 5%, 7.5%, 10%, and 12% showed that
the type of emulsion was o/w. Result from homogenity test showed that creams were
homogens. The pH of product which contains tomato juice were 5.4 – 5.9; and did
not cause skin irritation and it wasstable during storage at room temperature for 90
days. Statistical analysis showed that a tomato juice cream and blank cream had a
significant difference on anti-aging effectiveness (p ≤ 0.05), where the cream with
tomato juice could be able to provide an anti-aging effects on skin moisture, more
delicate skin, smaller pores and blemishe was reduced. The most effective as an antiaging cream was 12% tomato juice, which was able to increase the moisture of
dehydration into normal (28.66 into 35.33); normal evenness into smooth (34.66 into
29.00); moderate pore into small (32.33 into 22.33); and much spot into little spot
(31.66 into 22.00).
Conclusion: Tomato juice can be formulated into cream preparation with oil in
water emulsion type and tomato juice gives anti-aging activity.
