may not do or perform something for some reasons. They may take a decision because they think it is important or they can choose not to do it because they fear
the risks which they will likely to face. It is a factor possessed by each student which helps them choose which thing they really need to do for the sake of
success in their learning process. In another study, intention is defined differently but the definition contains the same idea. Arzamarski et al. 2010 quote Gibson’s
1966 idea as the base, and they define it as “…information appropriate for the to-be-perceived property or the to-be-undertaken action…Intentions motivate
explorations that constrain perception which further constrains action, and so on.” In other words, intentions direct students to what exactly they need to do
and to select whether what they plan to do is really what they need to do. Intentions make students focused on certain things that they really should do. In
relation with this study, intention refers to what students plan to do at the time; the plans which are related to their study. It is also related with their awareness of
vocabulary learning itself. They plan to do something which they think is able to bring them towards success in vocabulary learning.
e. Feeling
Feeling is an abstract concept. It is what arouses within, which affects us
in a particular way. Peirce n.d states, “A feeling is a state, which is in its entirety
in every moment of time as long as it endures…the being of the feeling would be relative to the particular time in which it occurred.” Feeling comes at particular
time and the feeling itself is particular as there is no other time when the feeling comes again. Crow 1956 mentions,
Simple emotional states are referred to as feeling. Yet an emotion as compared to a feeling is a conscious experience that involves body activity
resulting in organic and kinesthetic muscular sensations and overt expressions, as well as accompanying impulses and strong feeling tones. An emotion can be
regarded as a dynamic, intense adjustment operating for the protection, welfare, and satisfaction of the individual experiencing it. p.52
In other words, feeling is the thing a person feels within and the person somehow knows that he or she feels it, but feeling is just there. Meanwhile, emotions are
more than just feeling as it is the expressions of feeling such as anger, disappointment, happiness, or comfort.
There are many events which cause people to have certain feeling. One of those events is vocabulary learning. Any activities, any given tasks, any teachers’
comments can cause students to feel something. Feeling is not always feeling which students want to feel. Sometimes it is good feeling that they feel, and some
other time it is bad feeling that they feel. Vocabulary learning, with everything occurring in the process cannot be taken for granted. The way it is presented and
taught has given certain meaning to students’ life. Feeling is one aspect in meaning construction that this study aims to seek.
f. Action
When hearing the term action, most people associate it with a certain form of behaviour that is being done because of some reasons. It is either because of
their own decision or because of they are required to do certain actions. It is the same when students come to the class, they do not come without anything. They
should have had something in their mind. They have their intention and what
