ABSTRACT
Stroke is a brain tissue death that occurs due to reduced blood flow and brain
oxygen. The rapid delay of the healing process of stroke patients from disability is also
affected by the level of adherence of stroke patients performing rehabilitation. The more
regular stroke patients in doing rehabilitation, the risk of complications caused can be
prevented and the return of function quickly, otherwise if rehabilitation is not undertaken
seriously it can accelerate the parmanent paralysis of the limbs that have experienced
paralysis and one of them affects adherence is a family role. The aim of this research is to
know the relation of family role with compliance of stroke patients in following physical
rehabilitation at physiotherapy ward RSUD Prof. Dr. W. Z. Johannes Kupang.
This research method is a quantitative correlation research with cross-sectional study
design, sample selection using purposive sampling. Sample in the research as many as 40
respondents. The research conducted on 09-26 August 2017 in Physiotherapy Ward of
RSUD Prof. Dr. W. Z. Johannes Kupang. The data were collected by giving questionnaires
to the respondents.
The result showed that most of the roles assigned to the family were in good stroke
patients (83%) and most of the stroke patients were in physical rehabilitation (83%). The
result of chi square test get pvalue=0,000
