Abstract
The study aims to determine the effectiveness of guided inquiry learning in the cell material in SMA
Negeri 1 Mallusetasi Barru. This pre-experimental study using pretest - posttest one group design
involving MIA class XI student of SMAN 1 Mallusetasi Barru selected by purposive sampling.
Research was conducted during 4 meetings for the provision of material and 2 meetings for evaluation
(pre-test and post-test). Guided inquiry learning effectiveness seen with increased cognitive
achievement and growth of science process skills of students. The data were analyzed by descriptive
and inferential hypothesis testing using t-test analysis with a 0.05 significance level. The results
showed: a). improvement of cognitive learning outcomes of students with an average n-gain of 0.72
and a significance value of 0:00
