Studi Kasus Persepsi Mahasiswa Tentang Komunikasi Nonverbal Dosen di Departemen Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP USU

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini berjudul “Persepsi Mahasiswa Tentang Komunikasi Nonverbal
Dosen” sebuah studi kasus persepsi mahasiswa tentang komunikasi nonverbal
dosen di Departemen Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP USU. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini
adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa tentang gambaran komunikasi
nonverbal dosen di Departemen Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP USU dan untuk
mengetahui bentuk-bentuk komunikasi nonverbal dari dosen di Departemen Ilmu
Komunikasi. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah persepsi,
komunikasi nonverbal, pelanggaran harapan, pengurangan ketidakpastian dan
kebohongan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah
kualitatif dengan paradigma konstruktivis yang membahas tentang komunikasi
nonverbal dosen. Bagaimana mahasiswa mempersepsi komunikasi nonverbal
dosen di Departemen Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP USU. Objek yang menjadi
penelitian ini adalah komunikasi nonverbal dosen Ilmu Komunikasi dan yang
menjadi subjeknya adalah mahasiswa Departemen Ilmu Komunikasi angkatan
2010. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk-bentuk komunikasi nonverbal
dosen sangat beragam. Secara keseluruhan bentuk komunikasi nonverbal seperti
isyarat regulator lebih banyak digunakan oleh dosen laki-laki dan isyarat ilustrator
lebih banyak digunakan oleh dosen perempuan. Kontak mata dosen Ilmu
Komunikasi kuat, volume suara keras, jarang melakukan sentuhan, kualitas suara

baik, lebih menggunakan jarak sosial, warna yang sering dipakai oleh dosen
perempuan adalah warna-warna yang cerah sedangkan warna yang sering dipakai
oleh dosen laki-laki adalah warna-warna pastel. Secara keseluruhan postur tubuh
dosen Ilmu Komunikasi mesomorphy dan endomorphy, wangi dan tepat waktu.

ABSTRACT

The research is titled "Student Perceptions About Nonverbal Communication
Lecturer" a case study of students' perceptions of nonverbal communication
lecturer in the Department of Communication Studies Faculty of Social USU. The
purpose of this study was to determine the students' perceptions of nonverbal
communication illustration lecturer in the Department of Communication Studies
Faculty of Social USU and to determine the forms of non-verbal communication
from a lecturer in the Department of Communication Studies. The theory used in
this study is the Perception, Nonverbal Communication, Breach of Hope,
Uncertainty Reduction and Lies. The method used in this study is qualitative

constructivist paradigm which deals with nonverbal communication lecturer. How
students perceive nonverbal communication lecturer in the Department of
Communication Studies Faculty of Social USU. The object of this study is that
non-verbal communication are the lecturer of Communication Studies and
students of the Department of Communication Studies class of 2010 are the
subject. Results showed that non-verbal forms of communication are very
diverse/various. Overall form of nonverbal communication such as gestures more
widely used by regulators male lecturers and illustrator of more cues used by
female professors. Eye contact lecturers of Communication Studies robust, high
volume, rarely do touch, good sound quality, more use of social distance, the color
often worn by female lecturers are bright colors while the colors are often worn by
male lecturers arepastel colors. Overall posture and lecturer of Communication
Studies mesomorphy endomorphy, fragrant and timely.
