MENGGUNAKAN GLUKOMANAN DAN GOM XANTAN
DENGANPEWANGI MINYAK APEL
ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang: Pengharum ruangan dalam bentuk sediaan gel penggunaannya
lebih praktis, lebih mudah dalam hal penyimpanan dan pengemasannya.
Kombinasi glukomanan dengan gom xantan menghasilkan gel yang lebih elastis,
keras dan tidak mudah rapuh. Minyak apel merupakan salah satu pewangi
pengharum ruangan.
Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui apakah basis gel dari variasi rasio perbandingan
glukomanan dan gom xantan dengan konsentrasi 4% dapat diformulasikan dalam
bentuk sediaan gel pengharum ruangan dan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi
pewangi minyak apel yang paling disukai pada sediaan gel pengharum ruangan.
Metode: Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah eksperimental menggunakan
variasi rasio perbandingan glukomanan dan gom xantan terbaik dengan
konsentrasi 4% sebagai basis gel yaitu B1 (90:10); B2 (80:20); B3 (70:30); B4
(60:40) dan B5 (50:50). Konsentrasi minyak apel yang digunakan dalam
pembuatan gel pengharum ruangan adalah F1 2%; F2 4%; F3 6% dan F4 8%
dengan penambahan minyak nilam 1% sebagai fiksatif. Prosedur pengujian
meliputi uji organoleptik yaitu pemilihan gel terbaik dan nilai sineresis, uji
kesukaan (hedonic test) yaitu pemilihan wangi apel yang paling disukai, uji
penguapan zat cair dengan menimbang bobot gel setiap minggu selama empat
minggu penyimpanan dan uji kesukaan ketahanan wangi gel pengharum ruangan.
Hasil: Hasil uji organoleptik diperoleh basis gel terbaik yaitu formula B2 (80:20)
dengan konsentrasi 4% dari variasi rasio perbandingan glukomanan dan gom
xantan. Hasil uji kesukaan (hedonic test) diketahui bahwa gel pengharum ruangan
yang disukai adalah formula F4 dengan konsentrasi minyak apel 8%. Total
persentase penguapan zat cair paling kecil terdapat pada penyimpanan ruangan
suhu kamar sebesar 44,76%, dan total persentase penguapan zat cair paling tinggi
terdapat pada penyimpanan ruangan yang diberi kipas angin sebesar 78,96%.
Hasil uji kesukaan ketahanan wangi dari gel pengharum ruangan F4 pada suhu
kamar memiliki nilai kesukaan wangi tertinggi, dilanjutkan pada ruangan ber-AC
dan kipas angin.
Kesimpulan: Variasi rasio perbandingan glukomanan dan gom xantan dengan
konsentrasi 4% yang terbaik sebagai basis gel pengharum ruangan adalah formula
B2 (80:20) dan konsentrasi pewangi minyak apel yang paling disukai pada
sediaan gel pengharum ruangan yaitu 8%.

ABSTRACT
Background: An air freshener in the gel preparation form is more practical, easier
in terms of storage and packaging. The combination of glucomannan with xanthan
gum produces a gel that is more elastic, hard and not easily brittle. Apples oil is
one of air freshener.
Purpose: The purpose of this research was to know whether gel base with
variation of ratio of glucomannan and xanthan gum with 4% concentration can be
formulated in the form of air freshener gel and to know the most liked
concentration of apple oil on air freshener gel preparation.
Methods: The method used was experimental using the best ratio of glucomannan
and xanthan gum ratio with 4% concentration as gel base with B1 (90:10); B2
(80:20); B3 (70:30); B4 (60:40) and B5 (50:50). The concentration of apple oil
used in the manufacture of air freshener gel were F1 2%; F2 4%; F3 6% and F4
8% with the addition of 1% patchouli oil as fixative. The test procedure included
organoleptic test to determine the best gel selection and the value of sineresis,
hedonic test that is the selection of the most like apple fragrance, liquid
evaporation test by weighing gel weight every week for four weeks storage and
favorite endurance test of air freshener gel.
Results: The result of organoleptic test obtained the best gel base was formula B2
(80:20) with 4% concentration of variation ratio of glucomannan and xantan gum.
Result of hedonic test was known that the preferred air freshener gel is F4 formula
with 8% apple oil concentration. The total percentage of evaporation of liquids
was the smallest in room temperature storage that is 44.76%, and the highest total
percentage of liquid evaporation was found in the fan room storage that is
78.96%. The result of the favorite endurande test at room temperature had the
highest scented favorite value, followed in air-conditioned room and the fan.
Conclusion: The best variation of the ratio of glucomannan and xanthan gum
with 4% concentration as the base of air freshener gel is the formula B2 (80:20)
and the most liked concentration of fragrance apple oil freshener in the air
freshener gel is 8%.
