ABSTRAK
Disiplin merupakan suatu sikap yang menunjukkan nilai – nilai ketaatan,
kepatuhan, keteraturan dan ketertiban berdasarkan acuan nilai moral karena
adanya kesadaran dan dorongan dari dalam diri orang itu. Dengan melihat
persepsi iklim sekolah yang dimiliki oleh para siswa, maka dapat dijadikan
sebagai faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap disiplin siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini
untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh persepsi iklim sekolah terhadap disiplin pada
siswa SMA Methodist-1 Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan
kuantitatif dan populasinya adalah siswa SMA Methodist-1 Medan. Teknik
pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah simple random sampling dengan
jumlah sampel sebanyak 197 siswa. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah skala
persepsi iklim sekolah yang disusun oleh peneliti berdasarkan 4 aspek persepsi
iklim sekolah yang dikemukakan oleh Thapa, dkk (2012) yang terdiri dari safety,
relationship, teaching and learning dan institutional environment dengan
reliabilitas (rxx’) 0.629. Pada skala disiplin disusun oleh peneliti berdasarkan 4
komponen disiplin yang dikemukakan oleh Boynton & Boynton (2007) yang
terdiri hubungan, parameter, keahlian dalam memonitor dan mengatur, dan
konsekuensi dengan reliabilitas (rxx’) 0.737. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah

terdapat pengaruh persepsi iklim sekolah terhadap student engagement pada siswa
SMA Methodist-1 Medan sebesar 25% (R Square 0.255).

ABSTRACT
Discipline is an attitude that shows the values of obedience, and orderlines
based on moral values because of the consciousness and encouragement from
within the person. By looking at the perceptions of school climate owned by the

students, it can be used as a factor that affects the discipline of students. The
purpose of this study was to determine the effect of school climate perception on
discipline in SMA Methodist-1 Medan students.This study uses a quantitative
approach and the population is a high school student Sultan Methodist-1 Medan.
The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with a sample size of
197 students. Measuring instrument use perception of school climate scale is
compiled by the author based on 4 aspects of the perceptions of school climate by
Thapa, et al (2012) consisting of safety, relationship, teaching and learning dan
institutional environment with reliability 0.629. On discipline scale is compiled by
the author based on 4 components of discipline by Boynton & Boynton (2007)
consisting of relationships, parameters, skills in monitoring and organizing, and
consequences with reliability 0.737. Results from this study is there is influence
perceptions of school climate on discipline at high school students Mehodist-1
Medan by 25% (R Square 0.255).
