47 3. The materials were too easy in term of difficulties. The level of difficulties should be increased especially in the reading tasks. 4. In group work, it is better that the members should not always the same for each meeting or task, in this case two people or in pairs. The number of members should be based on the level of difficulties of the materials. 5. In pre-task section, it is better that the students were given some guiding questions on what they are going to learn and not just given pictures and only being asked to discuss about the pictures. 6. In the lesson plan, it was better to include time allocation for each part so it will help the teacher to get the view on how long should the activities took place. The lesson plan was also very teacher-centered, it was better to change it into student-centered although not all of them. 7. The layout of the designed materials was too crowded. There was a feeling that a lot of things were inserted in the materials. But it only made the materials looked too crowded which decrease peoples’ interest to use it. It was better to reduce the content and chose the important ones.

C. Discussion on the Results of the Evaluation-Questionnaire

In this part, the researcher discussed the process of analyzing the result and considered the suggestion to revise and improve the materials. The result of the data formulated in table 4.7 indicated that the average degree of agreement was ranged from 3.3 to 4.3. The data also showed that the grand mean on the designed materials was 3.9. Based on these statistics, the 48 researcher could draw a conclusion that the designed materials were acceptable for the eight grade student of SMP Bopkri 2 Yogyakarta. However, based on the participants’ opinions and suggestions, the designed materials still needed to be improved and revised. Therefore the researcher made some improvements and revisions in order to get better appropriate materials. But it should be note here that there were some suggestions that were not used. The researcher already made consideration what should be revised and what should not be revised. The revisions based on the participants’ suggestions were: 1. Some instructions given in each task were revised. The changes included the choice of words or diction to make the instructions shorter but still easy to understand. 2. The content of the materials had some revision. The unsuitable parts were changed into new ones which were suitable for eight grade student of junior high school. 3. The pre-task sections were provided with some guiding questions in order that the students will have better understanding on what they are going to learn. 4. The lesson plan was revised. Time allocation for each part was added in order to help the teacher to use it. The lesson plans were now mostly student- centered but some teacher-centered views were still used depending on the needs. 5. The materials’ layout had been revised. The things in the materials were reduced so the materials would not be too crowded and have better view. 49
