to make the students able to respond in teaching and learning process. In the writing activity, one of the strategies that can be applied is metacognitive learning
strategies. Metacognitive learning strategies help to coordinate the students‟
learning process by self-planning, self-monitoring and self-evaluating. The findings show that there is a positive
relation between students‟ metacognitive learning strategies
and students‟ writing skills. Moreover, metacognitive learning strategies help teachers to create a meaningful and creative activity in using the
recount texts as the teaching media for students. In conclusion, the teacher as the role model needs to consider the best strategy that will encourage the students in
the learning process in order to develop their learning skills.
