CHAPTER IV FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION
Having explained the method and the technique of the data analysis in chapter III, the findings and discussion of this study will be shown in this chapter.
A. Findings 1. The Data Description
In this study, the writer uses narrative passages in English textbook “Bright 2” that is used in eight grade of Pelita 2 Depok Junior High School. There
are six narrative passages in the textbook which will be analyzed. The analysis will apply the Halliday and Hasan’s concept of cohesion. The grammatical
cohesion is divided into four kinds; they are reference, substitution, ellipsis, and
conjunction .
The following table shows the recapitulation of grammatical cohesion found in every narrative passage.
