meaning of sincerity and without care a friend will be like any common friend. Furthermore it is also needed to build atmosphere of ease between friends.
4.2.3.4 Sacrificing
In friendship, if those three important elements are evident in a good friendship then sacrificing will automatically appear. If we relate sacrificing to
characteristics of friendship by Peterson 1, it is closely linked to service which refers to some helping action that we can do to our friends. Sacrificing can be
proof how solid and sincere a friendship is Hosseini 63-64. That is why it is a must in building a long lasting friendship. Moreover, it teaches one not to be
selfish since he has to make sacrifices for his friend. Sacrificing for a friend can be in a form of care, attention, time, understanding and action Hosseini 36-37.
When one is giving his time to stay close to his friend and listen about his bad story, it means that he is sacrificing his time to listen.
Sacrificing is needed in friendship because a best friend is sometimes like a brother or family. It is a deep proof of a true friend because a quality of
friendship can be measured also by how great and sincere is his sacrifice. In addition, it comes from one’s true love to his best friend because when one
sacrifices his time or effort for his best friend he does not hope for anything in return. It also means that one is hoping everything the best for his friend whatever
the risk taken as long as the friendship lasts forever.

CHAPTER 5 CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS
The conclusions and suggestions are presented in this chapter. The former part concerns about the conclusions of the analysis in a previous chapter and it
contains the answers to the problem formulated. The latter part presents the suggestion for further research and the implementation of teaching through this
novel in Prose II class.
5.1 Conclusions
Human is a social creature who always relates to another. Therefore, friendship is important for human to develop himself. Through friends, people
learn and develop to find themselves. Friendship for children is important to develop their personalities. Friendship in childhood is the basic step of human for
his next stage of development. The importance and meaning of friendship is presented in the character of Hassan and Amir by Khaled Hosseini. Based on the
analysis in chapter 4, I will draw some conclusions in order to answer the questions formulated and I will state the conclusion in each character.
In the novel, Hassan’s social status and his father affect his personalities. He is a diligent young boy. He is also a loyal person since he shows his great
loyalty to Amir several times without hoping for anything in return and without being asked. He always defends Amir when they play outside and gives him some
support when Amir is feeling down.
