B. MALIN KUNDANG (KELOMPOK 4) SCENE 1

Narrator: A long time ago, in a small village near the beach in west Sumatra, a women and her son lived. They were Malin Kundang and her mother. Her mother was a single parent because Malin Kundang’s father had passed away when he was a baby. Malin Kundang had to live hard with his mother.

(Malin Kundang asked to his mother) Malin Kundang: Mom, where’s my father? What happen from I small I never see. Her mother: Your father is looking for money!! Malin kundang: Look for money? Why he never comes back home? Her mother: Don’t think about it. Just take a rest. (while direcrt talks) Malin kundang: Yes mom.

SCENE 2

Narrator: Malin kundang was a healty, diligent, and strong boy. He usually went to sea to catch fish. After getting fish he would bring it to his mother, or sold the caught fish in the town.

(Malin kundang sald goodbye to his mother would go looking for fish on the sea) Malin kundang: Mom, I would go for fishing on the sea. Let me!! Her mother: Let malin . Immediately returned.

SCENE 3

Narrator: One day, when Malin kundang was sailing, he saw a merchant’s ship which was being raided by a small band of pirates. He helped the merchant. With his brave and power, Malin kundang defeated the pirates. The merchant was so happy better life, Malin kundang agreed. He left his mother alone.

(Malin kundang which was resting on the beach. Suddenly malin see merchant ship that was raided pirate) Malin kundang: What are they doing? (asked residents) Resident: Merchant’s ship which was being raided by a small band of pirates. Malin kundang: I will ocean help it!!

(Malin kundang with his brave and power Malin kundang fight defeated the pirates) Meriscant: Thank you young man. What’s youre name? Malin kundang: Your welcome. My name’s Malin kundang. Meriscant: in return, canyou to sail with me? Malin kundang: Emm. I would ask permission of my mother Merchant: Oke Malin, I will wait you.

(Malin kundang ask permission of his mother, because Malin kundang willgo oversea) Malin kundang: Mom, I will go oversea, let me mom? Her mother: What? You are go leave me malin. (sad face) Malin kundang: I’m sorry mom, Iwill looking for money. Her mother: Let malin. Immediately returned.

(Malin kundang meet his merchant’s and her beautiful woman) Malin kundang: Merchant’s I will go oversea with you!! Merchant: Is it truen youre mother is allowed?

SCENE 4

Narrator: Many years later, Malin kundang became wealthy. He hed a huge ship and was helped by many ship crews loading tranding goods. Perfectly he had a beautiful wife too. When he was sailing his tranding journey, his ship landed on a beach near a small village.

The villagers recognized him. The news ran fast in the town;”Malin kundang has become rich and now he is here”. An old woman ran to Beach to meet the new rich merchant.

She was Malin kundang’s mother.She wanted to hug him,released her sadness of being lonely after so long time. Unfortunately,when the mother came,Malin kundang who was in front of his well dressed wife and his ship crews denied meeting that old lonely woman.For three times he yelled at her.

(Malin kundang married with beautiful woman) Malin kundang: Will you marry me? Beautiful woman: Emm I will marry you as long as it let me meet with both your parents.

Malin kundang: Forgive me, my parents had died when I was a kid Beautiful woman: What? Forgive me. I don’t know. Malin kundang: Yes, it is okay. Emm how the decision, Will you be my wife? Beautiful woman: All right, I'll be your wife Malin Kundang: Is it true? Beatiful women: Yes.

(One day, the vessel master kundang and his wife sailed to the island and landed in the small village) Resident 1: Wow that Malin! Resident 2: Malin is that correct? Resident 1: yes, the Malin ! He was different from the past, now he's got it all, then, What about his mother? Resident 2: Did her mother already knows that the malin is back in the village? Resident 1: I don’t know. (Suddenly the mother malin kundang come) Malin kundang’s mother: Is it true malin? Resident 2: yes it malin.

SCENE 5

Narrator: At last malin kundang said to her “Enough,old woman! I have never had a mother like you,a dirty and ugly woman!” After that he ordered his crews to set sail.He would leave the old mother again but in that time she was fill of both sadnees and angriness.Finally,enraged,she cursed malin kundang that he would turn into a stone if he didn’t apologize.Malin kundang just laughed and really set sail.

In the quiet sea, suddenly a thunderstorm came. His huge ship was wrecked and it was too late for Malin kindang to apologize.he was thrown by the wave out of his ship.he fell on a small island.

(Mother malin kundang surprised he ran to master kundang) Malin kundang’s mother: Malin my son's mother. Malin kundang: Who are you? I don’t know you. Malin kundang’s mother: I'm your mother, son ! Malin kundang wife: Who is he malin? Why did he claim to be a mother? Malin kundang: I don’t know. How could I have a mother like her ugly and filthy! My

Malin kundang;s mother: Malin that your’s mother!! Malin kundang: Enough,old woman! I have never had a mother like you,a dirty and ugly woman! Malin kundang: Anyway don’t listen to him, the better we set sail and leave him !!!

(Malin kundang’s mother enraged,she cursed malin kundang that he would turn into a stone if he didn’t apologize) Malin kundang’s mother: Malin you rebellious child, the mother curse you to stone.

(Suddenly storms and lightning came up to shake the ship malin) Malin kundang: What happened? (Panic and say) Mother forgive malin, Malin sorry mom !!! (suddenly body malin became stone)

Malin kundang’s mother: Forgive mother. It was really too late for you to avoid the

curse. Finally Malin Kundang became the stone.

1. Once upon a time, there was a fisherman lived in North Sumatra. Don’t ask me the year, all I know it was a very long time before you were born. When he was fishing in a river a big fish was nailed.

2. Wow... This fish is very big. How can I bring it home for dinner.

3. This fish had gold colour. It was beautiful. The fisherman was very excited. He imagined a delicious dinner in his head. He put the fish in his basket and went home happily. It looks very delicious. “(He imagined

a sink. He grabbed a knife to kill the -Gambar ikan yang terlihat matanya sayup fish. But when he almost killed it,

he saw the fish eyes and felt pity. He took the knife away and put the fish in washbasin and added water in it. Don’t worry. I wouldn’t kill you. “(The fisherman said)”

5. The fisherman went fishing again. But this time he couldn’t get any fish. He went home with nothing in his hand. His stomatch started to sing. He walked home slouching. I’ve been waiting for so long but I get no fish *sigh*.

6. He was surprised when he saw -Gambar orang kaget smoke came out from his kitchen. What is this ? I don’t believe it! Who coocked in my kitchen ??. “(He confused)”

7. (He took a peep and surprised when

he saw a beautiful girl coocked in his house). Why there’s a girl in my kitchen?. “(He confused)” (The fisherman enterd the room). Who are you ? “(He ask the girl)”. I’m the fish. “(The girl said)”

8. The fisherman looked the washbasin -Gambar washbasin and saw nothing in it

-Gambar orang ngobrol The fish? “(He confused because he saw this fish changed become a beautiful girl. He asked incredulous)”.

Yes. You didn’t kill me and I’m very thankful. I will return your kindness. “(The girl said)”. That’s OK. I didn’t ask any return “(The fisherman said)”. But I have to. “(The girl insisted)”.

Well, I lived alone. I don’t have family. If you want to be my wife. I will be very happy “(The fisherman asked the girl)”.

9. (The girl smiled and said) -Gambar orang ngobrol I’d love to but you have to promise

-Gambar orang menikah me that if we have kid you can’t tell -Gambar anak laki - laki him about me. And so, the fisherman and the fish girl were married. (backsounds lagu gamelan Jawa). They lived happily. And then they had a child called Samo. Samo was very naughty. He couldn’t be advisable. He always played and never helped his parents.

10. One day Samo was asked to deliver -Gambar anak sedang bermain lunch to his father. On his way, he

-Gambar anak laki – laki membawa makanan met his friends and forgot to deliver his father’s lunch. Samo played with his friends.

Hi friends ?? Let’s play. Ok.. What will we play ?? Marbles. Ok.. Ready !!. I’m lazy. Well it’s ok (They directly play marbles)

11. When he was tired and hungry, he took a rest under a tree and ate his father lunch. Meanwhile his father waited him in starve and tired. His father went home and saw Samo played. Where is my lunch ? “(He asked)”.

Mmm..mm.. I ate it “( Samo said afraid)” Why you ate it ? “( His father asked)”. Mmm..mm.. I was hungry after

playing with my friend “(Samo said)”.

12. You were told to deliver my lunch -Gambar orang marah – marah but you didn’t listen “( His father was very furious)”. I can’t handle you anymore. You are very naughty. Go away from me. Don’t come home anymore. “(His father yelled and expelled Samo from his house. And this what happened if you can’t control your mouth when you are angry. You.... fish’s son “( His father said the words that he wouldn’t suppose to say)”

13. Suddenly, the sky was getting dark. -Gambar awan mendung disertai petir. The storm was breaking the ears.

-Gambar wanita sedih The rain felt from the sky like

-Gambar wanita kembali menjadi ikan giant’s nose sprayed water all over the place. And then the water came out from the land and getting harder. “ Samo’s mother was very sad”.

I told you don’t tell him about me.”( She said to her husband)”. Now I’m going back to be fish again. Good bye “(The mother was transformed magically to be gold fish again and

Toba came from Tuba Word means no mercy. And the hill in the middle called Samosir Island. Samosir means ‘Samo di usir’ or in English : Samo have been evicted. This is just

a legend, there were so many

versions of the name’s story. You -Gambar Pulau Samosir can’t tell which one is really true. But I heard this version since I was

a little girl.
