C. Discussion

Based on the data result, the students need Internet to do the weekly tasks of Writing VI course once or twice a week. It is probably because of in once access, they can browse articles or references as many as they can. Those articles or references can support them in doing the tasks. In accessing Internet, students often get difficulty when they determine key word to search articles. They also get difficulty in choosing the appropriate articles which support them in doing Writing VI exercises. This can be the consideration for the lecturers. They have a task how to direct and to help students in using Internet. Students also often browse other unnecessary sites while they were using the Internet to do Writing VI exercises. It can be a challenge for students to defeat their desire to open other sites. But, it can be such activity which makes students motivated to use Internet in doing Writing VI exercises. Talking about Writing VI web or HTU www.writing6.wordpress.com UTH , students access it once at the beginning of the semester. That happens because all the material provided in web can be downloaded once. This innovation from the lecturers does not work well. The lecturers should improve the web, so that students will often access it. The lecturers can provide something new for each week, therefore students will be more interested in using Internet and get more new experience, knowledge, or information. More than a half of the respondents have high mean score. Their mean score are between 3.0 and 3.76. Students have experiences in using the Internet in doing the exercises. Past experience makes someone familiar with something. This affects 44 someone in perceiving things and in dealing with those things. The students enjoy using Internet in doing the Writing VI exercises is probably because they have pleasant and beneficial experiences while they are using Interne to do their tasks. Students perceive the use of Internet is comfortable. They can do their tasks in a pleasant way and condition. Through the Internet, students can find sources, information, knowledge, or references in doing weekly Writing VI exercises. Internet helps them much in doing their tasks. Hence, students are interested in and motivated to use the Internet to do their tasks. Their interests, feeling comfort, and motivation make them confident to write. They also perceive that the use of Internet gives contribution toward their writing proficiency. By seeing the articles or research paper models in the Internet, students may understand and then imitate how good writers compose their writing paragraph clearly and correctly. The students may learn how to make their paragraph effective and efficient: not too wordy and the idea expressed clearly. The students may also learn how to develop ideas into a good paragraph. Chaplen 1970: 1 defines that a good paragraph is a paragraph whose unit of information is completely understood by the reader and whose controlling idea is completely developed. By reading articles or models in Internet, students may generate many topics to write. Moreover, through observing the models they have, students may learn how a topic can be discussed from many points of view, how a topic can be developed to compose a paragraph. A writer should always be aware that a good paragraph consists of one underlying idea. Therefore, in drawing supporting sentences he she must not run away from the idea being discussed. Through Internet, students may get various models or articles which they can observe and imitate how the writers develop an idea into sentences that support to compose a paragraph. The students also perceive that the use of Internet give contribution toward their grammar mastery in writing. Singer 1990: 40 states, “People might store the grammatical structures of sentences that are encountered in their reading”. Sometimes, students would rather recall grammatical patterns that are applied in some articles or research paper models they have ever read. There are sentences that so impress the readers, that they would be kept in the readers memories. Observing the tenses or grammatical patterns often, students may learn to apply what tense should be used for what situation. Through reading the articles or models from the Internet, students would also meet repeated structures of English sentence. This helps the students to memorize the pattern easier. Moreover, these patterns are put in contexts, so that the students may understand the correct use of English structures. The students would also learn new vocabulary which they often meet while they were reading and observing the articles or models from Internet. Their reading may give a greater possibility of repeating one word throughout the paragraph or sentences. Therefore, the students would memorize vocabulary that they often meet. The more familiar a word is, the easier the students may remember its meaning, how to use it, and when to use it. By having several articles and models from the Internet, the students would become rich of vocabulary and sufficient knowledge which help them to start writing.
