METODE PENELITIAN

3.1 Tempat dan Waktu Penelitian

Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Maret 2015 sampai dengan bulan

Lokasi pembuatan alat bertempat di Bengkel Las Rudi Karya Jalan Pasar

Baru No. 34 Padang Bulan Medan, Sumatera Utara dan Lokasi pengujian alat

bertempat di Balai Riset dan Standarisasi Industri Medan yaitu di Jalan

Sisingamangaraja No. 24 Medan, Sumatera Utara.

3.2 Alat dan Bahan yang Digunakan

3.2.1 Alat

Adapun alat-alat yang digunakan dalam rancang bangun alat

pengering bahan pertanian sistem pompa kalor dengan APK ini terbagi

menjadi 3 bagian yaitu:

Alat utama

Alat utama yang digunakan pada alat pengering bahan pertanian

sistem pompa kalor dengan APK adalah sebagai berikut:

Air conditioner

(AC) digunakan sebagai pompa kalor yang

dirancang untuk mengeringkan bahan pertanian. Dimana AC yang

digunakan bermerek Polytron tipe PA-1105 dengan spesifikasi

sebagai berikut:

Alat Penukar Kalor Tipe

Alat penukar kalor tipe

flat plate

ini digunakan untuk

menaikkan temperatur udara yang berasal dari evaporator menuju

kondensor dengan cara memanfaatkan udara panas buangan yang

berasal dari ruang pengering. Di dalam alat penukar kalor ini

terjadi perpindahan panas secara konveksi-konduksi melalui

plat-plat yang tersusun di dalam alat penukar kalor. Yang mana

nantinya udara yang berasal dari evaporator akan diteruskan ke

kondensor sedangkan udara yang berasal dari ruang pengering

akan dibuang ke lingkungan sekitar.

Gerinda Potong

Gerinda potong digunakan untuk memotong besi

hollow

ataupun besi siku yang akan digunakan sebagai penyusun rangka

Gerinda tangan digunakan untuk merapikan bekas

sambungan las dan juga digunakan utuk memotong pelat

Bor tangan digunakan untuk melubangi pelat aluminium

yang digunakan sebagai dinding alat pengering. Bagian yang

telah dilubangi segera di rivet dengan alat tembak rivet.

Alat Tembak Paku Rivet

Alat tembak paku rivet digunakan untuk menembakkan

paku rivet pada pelat aluminium yang akan digunakan sebagai

dinding alat pengering. Dimana fungsi dari paku rivet itu sendiri

adalah sebagai alat penyambung pada aluminium, sebab pelat

aluminium sangat sulit untuk disolder dan dilas.

Alat Tembak Lem Silikon

Alat tembak lem silikon digunakan untuk menembakkan

lem silikon pada sudut-sudut pelat yang terdapat celah. Dimana

fungsi dari lem silikon adalah mencegah terjadinya kebocoran.
