7. Lesson Plan 7
From the congruence principle, the learning activities designed in this lesson plan met the learning objective formulated. The learning activities were
designed for the students as the audience as what was presented in the learning activities. The behavior expected in the learning objective also had the supporting
learning activities. In the learning objective, the students should be able to write procedure text. In the learning activities, the students had learned the concept of
procedure text such as knowing the generic structure and the language feature. Then, they also experienced how to write procedure text. For the condition of
learning as presented in the learning objective, that also appeared in the learning activities designed in which the teacher should give the example and material
related to procedure text. The learning activities started from question answer related to procedure
text. The questions delivered to the students were also close to their real life. Here, the students should share their knowledge through stating the steps of making a
glass of chocolate milk. It was a simple and effective thing to do. The students would learn first what verb they should use, connectivity words and how to
construct imperative text. Then, they would be given the example of recount text. Through this example, they would know their mistakes when sharing how to make
a glass of chocolate milk and they should know more about recount text. As the product of learning, they would write procedure text based on the given model.
Here, the students should not only recall but also use their knowledge. It required
70 them to come up to the level of synthesis. For all the process of learning had been
explained, the organization principle was fulfilled. The learning activities designed were various. The teacher gave the
students the opportunity to work both in-group and individually. The teacher also provided power point presentation in explaining more about procedure text. It
would help them to visualize the material. Moreover, the teacher also provided modeling to give example of procedure text. For example, the teacher bring
instant noodle and let the students take a look at the procedure written in the plastic package.
The learning activities designed had fulfilled active processing principle. The participant knew how
to design activity that related to the students’ previous knowledge with the material they are going to learn. The students required to
share their knowledge through stating the steps of making a glass of chocolate milk. Here, what they had done was actually composing procedure text. After that,
they would get other knowledge dealing with procedure text through the process of writing in which they should identify the generic structure and language feature
first. The topic of this lesson plan, procedure was really close to real life
situation. Students should have read manual books, recipe or everything related to procedure text. This material should be interesting for the students. Moreover,
they would learn how to write procedure text based on the model they got. Therefore, this teaching and learning had applied the principle of experience-
based learning.
71 This lesson plan focused on writing skills. Therefore, the level of thinking
demanded was also high. The participant had designed learning activity in which they experience how to write procedure text. Moreover, the topic they should
write on based on the model that they got. Here, they also experience problem- solving process since they got something that they did not know before. Whatever
the model was, they should write the procedure based on it.
