6. Lesson Plan 6

The learning activities designed had fulfilled the congruence principle with the learning objectives. Every learning activity had met at least one of the learning objectives. The participant had created learning activities based on the behavior reflected from the learning objectives. The students experienced arranging jumble paragraph, identifying both generic structure and language feature of recount text as what was expected in the first and second formulation of learning objectives. For the third learning objectives, the students also got the opportunity to write recount text. In this lesson plan, the organization principle had not been fulfilled yet. The learning activities directly started from identify the generic structure and language feature of recount text. After that, they come up to writing recount text. The teacher did not help the students see the structure of new information. It was important to provide some warming up activities to lead and help the students focus to the material. The learning activities designed were various. There were both group and individual work. In group, the students would have the chance to discuss and interact with their friends. This would help them learn the concept of recount text easier. Then, through the individual work, the students could explore their ability in writing recount text. The learning activities designed had also fulfilled the active processing principle. The students involved in group work in which they should arrange jumble paragraph in a good order. The participant explained that the purpose of 68 this activity was to remind the students about the generic structure of recount text. The assumption was the students had learned about recount text in the previous meeting. Therefore, they only recall and use their knowledge to identify the generic structure and language feature of recount text. After the students had understood the generic structure and the language feature used in recount text, the students got the opportunity to write recount text. In the process of writing, the students should learn many things such as new vocabulary, the way to formulate good sentence, or the way to write a logical writing since recount text is closely related to sequence of event. Based on the experience based learning principle, the learning activities only include learning through abstraction in which the students only deal with words. As an example, the students read a paragraph to identify the generic structure and language feature of recount text. After that, they would write recount text. Again, this activity only relates the students with word, writing recount text without knowing the implication in the real life situation. This lesson plan focused on writing skills. Therefore, the level of thinking demanded was also high. The students should produce recount text based on their experience. To do that, the students needed to understand the concept of recount text, such as the generic structure, language feature or anything dealing with the writing technique. They did not merely recall their memory. For that reason, higher level thinking principle was fulfilled. 69
