2. Lesson Plan 2

In this lesson plan, the congruence principle was not fulfilled. For the first and second learning objectives, the participant had created learning activities based on the behavior reflected. The students experienced how to identify both generic structure and language feature of procedure. However, there was no activity designed to support the achievement of the third formulation of learning objectives. The students did not get the opportunity to experience how to write recount text. The participant explained that the third learning objective would be achieved through activity two, how to operate computer. However, what the students should do in this activity was only choose the best procedural verb for every step in operating computer. The learning activities started from discussion. There would be question and answer on generic structure and language feature of procedure. Here, the students would be able to know that they were going to learn procedure text. From the discussion, the teacher would make a conclusion. After that, the students required to identify the generic structure and language feature of procedure text. Here, the teacher would check the students’ understanding on the generic structure and language feature of procedure text. Then, the students experienced how to write procedure. For all the process of learning had been explained, the organization principle was fulfilled. The learning activities designed showed the relation of every single activity that leads the students to the learning outcomes. From the variety principle, the teacher provided power point presentation in explaining more about procedure text. It would help the students to visualize 58 the material. However, all of the main activities were done in-group. It would be better if the participant provided individual work also for the students. The learning activities designed had fulfilled active processing principle. In the introductory activities, there was question and answer related to the previous material, which focused on reading procedure text. The participant gave the example of some questions which one of them was asking the students about what they have learned. Here, this activity was done to recall students’ knowledge about procedure text. It would help the students to learn about procedure text easier. After that, the students were encouraged in the process of learning new material, which was writing. The topic of this lesson plan, procedure was really close to real life situation. Students should have read manual books, recipe or everything related to procedure text. This material should be interesting for the students. Moreover, they got the chance to read and learn more about procedure text. Therefore, this teaching and learning had applied the principle of experience-based learning. This lesson plan focused on writing skills. Therefore, the level of thinking demanded was also high. However, the learning activities designed was only to achieve the second level of thinking, which was comprehension. Based on the learning objective, the students should produce procedure text. In fact, the students only got the chance to identify the generic structure and language feature of procedure text. Another learning experience they got was only matching some procedural verb into procedural sentences. They did not experience to write recount text. 59
