The example above is sentences uttered by Barack Obama on his nomination to be president in his first period. His campaign speech hold on November 10, 2007
at Des Moines, Iowa. In the quote speech above, Barack Obama states the truth that a few months
Americans will hold presidential elections. The sentence above to give information that correspond with the reality to the people. Barack Obama said that there will be
no names such as George W. Bush and Dick Cheney in a ballot. The purpose of the sentence uttered is to tell people that they should choose him as president. Barack
Obama also said “The era of Scooter Libby justice, and Brownie incompetence, and Karl Rove politics will finally be over
” it means that if he becomes president of the periods of their leadership will end and America will have a new future.
4.1.2.15. Pressure
Pressure is giving an order by way of scaring or using physical violence. Usually, this function give bad effect for the listener because the listener will take
action with forced. Pressure included in the function of persuasive sentence because it can influence others to do something. In this research, there is no persuasive speech
that has function to pressure used by Barack Obama in his campaign speeches. Barack Obama is more likely to use the sentences that makes the listener believe and
trust that he has the ability to make America to be a great country without force Americans to choose him.
4.1.2.16. Permission

Permission is asking for approval before doing anything. Permission included in the function of persuasive sentence because if we ask for permission before doing
anything, meaningful we also ask someone to agree to what we wanted. In this research, there is no persuasive sentence uttered by Barack Obama that has function
of permission.
4.1.3. Kinds of Persuasive Techniques
Based on the data analysis, the researcher found 230 data about kinds of persuasive techniques used by Barack Obama in his political campaign speeches. The
table below showed the data of kinds of persuasive techniques which were divided into seven techniques. It presented in total number and frequency of each techniques.

The table above is made to answer the second question about kinds of persuasive techniques used by Barack Obama in his political campaign speeches.
From the table, we can see that suggestion is the dominant techniques used by Barack Obama in his political campaign speeches in the first campaign period and second
campaign period. It is the highest number with total of 40,8 or 94 data from the total number of 230 kinds of persuasive techniques found in the Obama’s speeches
campaign. Barack Obama uses suggestion techniques to influence his audiences to vote him as a president. The second highest number is techniques of rationalization
with total 25,6 or 59 data. Barack Obama also often uses rationalization techniques to get many support from audience, so he could be a president. Then, the researcher
discusses the kinds of persuasive techniques in detail and also takes some examples.
4.1.3.1. Rationalization
Rationalization is a process of using reason to provide a justification for an issue, which is the basis or reason is not a direct cause of the problem. Truth spoken
in persuasion is not the absolute truth, but the truth is that only to lay the foundations and expedite the way of desires, attitudes, belief, decisions, or actions that have been
determined or taken can be justified.
