1.9 Outline of the Report
The outline of the report is as follows: Chapter I contains introduction, covering background of the study, reasons
for choosing the topic, research questions, objectives of the study, statements of the hypothesis, limitations of the study, significance of the study, definition of key
terms and outline of the report. Chapter II discusses review of the related literature as the theoretical basis
of the research including previous studies, general concept of media, games as media, Quartet and Dart games as media, general concept of speaking, general
concept of teaching speaking as second or foreign language, and framework of the study.
Chapter III is the method of investigation. It consists of research design, subjects of the study, variables of the study, instruments of data collection, types
of data, try-out test, methods of data collection, procedure of the research and methods of data analysis.
Chapter IV deals with the result of the study including activities of the research, research findings and findings discussion. In the findings, there are the
result of pre-test and post-test, the result of significance test, questionnaire analysis and the result of observation checklist.
Chapter V consists of research conclusions and suggestions.

CHAPTER II REVIEW OF THE RELATED LITERATURE
This chapter discusses review of previous studies, concept of media, games as learning media, the combination of Quartet and Dart games as learning media,
concept of speaking, concepts of teaching speaking as second or foreign language and framework of the study.
2.1 Review of Previous Studies
Using media as an aid in teaching and learning process is an interesting topic for many researchers. There are many studies that have been done in this field.
Related to this study, there are four relevant studies worthy to explore. Zhu 2012 conducted a study titled Using Games to Improve Students
Communicative Ability. Communicative Language Teaching Approach CLTA is one of the most effective methods to keep away from the weaknesses of the
traditional English teaching method in developing st udents‟ communicative
ability. Using games, which are communicative in essence, are often considered effective in developing students‟ communicative ability. His research finding
showed that students were actively involved in playing games which in turn could arouse and maintained their interest in learning, promoted their motivation
of study, and at the same time got lots of opportunities to have their basic skills of listening and speaking practiced. He reported that there were factors
