19.34 The Data of Experimental Class

Table 4.4 Data Description of Post-test of Experimental Class N Minimum Maximum Sum Mean Std. Deviation Post-test Experimental Class 43 64 92 3376 78,51 6,296 Valid N listwise 43 Table 4.4 above shows that the total number of data in experimental class was 43. The highest score of post-test in experimental class was 92 and the lowest score was 64. The total score was 3376. The mean score of post-test score in experimental class was 78.51. The standard deviation is 6.296. According to the table above, it can be formed a table of frequency distribution which us presented as follows: Table 4.5 Frequency Distribution of Post-test Result of Experimental Class Frequency Valid 64 1 68 3 72 6 76 10 80 10 84 8 88 4 92 1 Total 43 From the table it can be known that in post-test result in experimental class the student who got 64 was 1 student, the students who got 68 were 3 students, and so on until the total number of frequency were 43 data. Based on the table of frequency distribution above, it also can be presented in a diagram as follows: Diagram 4.2 Post-test Result of Experimental Class From the diagram of post-test of experimental class above, it can be seen the most frequent score is 76 and 80 which was got by 8 students. It is different with the most frequent score in pre-test of experimental class that is only 56 and 60 which was got by 7 students. The second frequent score is 84 which was got by 8 students. The less frequent score is 64 and 92 which was got only by 1 student. From result of pre-test and post-test of experimental class above showed that there is significant difference on students’ reading comprehension achievement between pre-test and post-test achievement. Moreover, in the post test-score the highest score is 92 meanwhile in the pre-test is only 76.

2. The Data of Control Class

The Table 4.2 below presented the students’ pre-test and post-test score of control class. There were 43 students in control class variable Y. 2 4 6 8 10 12 64 68 72 76 80 84 88 92 Table 4.6 The Students’ Pre-test and Post-test Score of Control Class Y Student Pre-test Post-test Gained Score 1 72 80 8 2 64 72 8 3 60 76 16 4 68 76 8 5 56 76 20 6 68 72 4 7 60 64 4 8 64 76 12 9 52 60 8 10 64 72 8 11 68 84 16 12 68 68 13 52 68 16 14 80 80 15 80 76 -4 16 72 88 16 17 52 68 16 18 64 68 4 19 56 60 4 20 68 72 4 21 56 60 4 22 76 68 -8 23 64 72 8 24 56 68 12 25 72 80 8 26 76 76 27 76 72 -4 Student Pre-test Post-test Gained Score 28 72 88 16 29 64 76 12 30 56 72 16 31 64 72 8 32 84 84 33 48 56 8 34 52 68 16 35 68 72 4 36 56 72 16 37 72 80 8 38 72 84 12 39 64 80 16 40 68 76 8 41 60 76 16 42 72 84 12 43 72 76 4 ∑ 2808 3168 360 Mean 65.30

73.67 8.37

According to Table 4.6 above, it can be seen that the lowest score of pre-test was 48 and the highest score was 84. Besides, the lowest score of post-test was 56 and the highest was 88. After conducting pre-test and post-test, the mean gained score was 8.37. The mean of pre-test was 65.30 and post-test was 73.67. It showed that the students’ score of control class was also increased. Although the students’ score of controlled class was also increased, it was not as significant as the students’ score of experimental class which the mean of gained score was 19.34 . It can be inferred that the students’ score of experimental class which learning reading narrative text using story mapping technique was higher than the students’ score in controlled class which learning reading narrative text with conventional technique. To see in detail the result of pre-test of control class, the writer calculated the result of pre-test in based on SPSS v.22 as follow: analyze-description statistic- frequencies. The result from pre-test score in control class of this research is presented in a table below: Table 4.7 Data Description of Pre-test of Control Class N Minimum Maximum Sum Mean Std. Deviation Pre-test Control Class 43 48 84 2808 65,30 8,673 Valid N listwise 43 The Table 4.7 above showed that the total number of data in control class was 43. The highest score of pre-test in control class was 84 and the lowest score was 48. The total score was 2808. The mean score of pre-test score in control class was 65.30. Mean is the average of the numbers. The standard deviation is 8.673. The standard deviation is a quantity canculation that measures how spread the numbers are. According to the table above, it can be formed a table of frequency distribution which us presented as follows: Table 4.8 Frequency Distribution of Pre-test Result of Control Class Frequency Valid 48 1 52 4 56 6 60 3 64 8 68 7 72 8 76 3 80 2 84 1 Total 43
