SOME PROPERTIES OF THE GENERALIZED CLASS OF
NON-BAZILEVIC FUNCTIONS

Ali Muhmmad
Abstract. In this paper, we define a new class Nk (n, λ, α, ρ) in the open unit
disk. The object of the present paper is to derive some interesting properties of
functions belonging to the class Nk (n, λ, α, ρ).

1. Introduction
Let A(n), n ∈ N, denote the class of functions of the form
f (z) = z +

(1.1)

k=n+1

which are analytic in the unit disc E = {z : z ∈ C, |z| < 1}. Let Pk (ρ) be the class
of functions h(z) analytic in E satisfying the properties h(0) = 1 and

Z2π
Reh(z) − ρ

1 − ρ dθ ≤ kπ,

(1.2)

0

where z = reiθ , k ≥ 2 and 0 ≤ ρ < 1. This class has been introduced in [3]. We note,

for ρ = 0, we obtain the class Pk defined and studied in [4], and for ρ = 0, k = 2,
we have the well-known class P of functions with positive real part. The case k = 2
gives the class P (ρ) of functions with positive real part greater than ρ. From (1.2)
we can easily deduce that h ∈ Pk (ρ) if and only if, there exists h1 , h2 ∈ P (ρ) such
that for z ∈ E,

A. Muhammad - Some properties of the generalized class of non-Bazilevic...

Assume that 0 < α < 1, a function f ∈ A is in the class N (α) if and only if
(

1+α )
z
Re f ′ (z)
> 0,
z ∈ E.
(1.4)
f (z)
N (α) was introduced by Obradovic [2] recently, he called this class of functions
to be of non-Bazilevic type.Until now, this class was studied in a direction of finding necessary conditions over α that embeds this class into the class of univalent
functions or its subclass, which is still an open problem.
Definition 1.1. Let f ∈ A.Then f ∈ Nk (n, λ, α, ρ) if and only if

α
z
z
zf ′ (z)
(1 + λ)
∈ Pk (ρ), z ∈ E,
−λ
f (z)
f (z)
f (z)
where 0 < α < 1, λ ∈ C, k ≥ 2 and 0 ≤ ρ < 1.The powers are understood as
principal values. For k = 2 and with different choices of n, λ, α, ρ, these classes
have been studied in [2, 5]. In particular N2 (1, −1, α, 0) is the class of non-Bazilevic
functions studied in [2].
We shall need the following result.
Lemma 1.1 [1]. Let u = u1 + iu2 , v = v1 + iv2 and Ψ (u, v) be a complex valued
function satisfying the conditions:

(i) . Ψ (u, v) is continuous in a domain D ⊂ C2 ,
(ii) . (1, 0) ∈ D and ReΨ (1, 0) > 0,

(iii) . ReΨ (iu2 , v1 ) ≤ 0, whenever (iu2 , v1 ) ∈ D and v1 ≤ − n2 1 + u22 .

If h (z) = 1+cn z+cn+1 z n+1 +· · · is a function analytic in E such that (h(z), zh′ (z)) ∈
D and ReΨ (h(z), zh′ (z)) > 0 for z ∈ E, then Reh(z) > 0 in E.
2. Main results
Theorem 2.1.

Let Reλ > 0, 0 < α < 1, 0 ≤ ρ < 1 and f ∈ Nk (n, λ, α, ρ). Then

z

f (z)

ρ1 =

α
The first two conditions of Lemma 1.1 are clearly satisfied. We verify the condition

(iii) as follows:

λ(1 − ρ1 )v1
Re {Ψ(iu2 , v1 )} = ρ1 − ρ + Re
α
nλ(1 − ρ1 )(1 + u22 )

A + Bu22

where
A = 2α(ρ1 − ρ) − nλ(1 − ρ1 ),
B = −nλ(1 − ρ1 ) and C = α > 0.
We notice that Re{Ψ(iu2 , v1 )} ≤ 0 if and only if A ≤ 0, B ≤ 0. From A ≤ 0, we
obtain ρ1 as given by (2.1) and B ≤ 0 gives us 0 ≤ ρ1 < 1. Therefore applying
Lemma 1.1, hi ∈ P, i = 1, 2 and consequently h ∈ Pk (ρ1 ) for z ∈ E.This completes
the proof.
