Abstrak
Intensitas pemberitaan dan visibilitas kaum Lesbian, Gay, Biseksual dan
Transgender (LGBT) yang meningkat belakangan ini memunculkan berbagai
respon dari masyarakat maupun gereja di Indonesia terhadap keberadaan mereka.
Kisah penciptaan manusia dalam Kejadian 7:27-28 kemudian menjadi beberapa
ayat yang digunakan sebagai rujukan gereja dalam menentukan sikapnya terhadap
keberadaan kaum LGBT. Pemahaman akan konteks teks pada masa lampau dapat
membantu dalam memahami pergumulan para penulis teks pada masa lampau dan
dalam memberi pemaknaan terhadap teks untuk masa sekarang. Oleh karena itu,
tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan latar belakang penulisan kisah
penciptaan manusia tersebut dan memberikan gambaran tentang seksualitas atau
heteronormativitas yang mungkin ada di dalamnya. Pendekatan sosio-historis,
yang menempatkan penulisan kisah tersebut pada abad keenam sebelum zaman
bersama (SZB), membantu untuk merekonstruksi kondisi dan pergumulan orangorang Yehuda yang pada saat itu hidup pada masa sekitar kehancuran Yehuda
hingga pemulihan kembali Bait Allah dan kultusnya. Dari hasil pendalaman yang
dilakukan, tampak bahwa dalam masa pemulihan tersebut, para penulis teks
mengharapkan agar keteraturan dalam masyarakat dapat tercipta dan
keberlangsungan kehidupan jasmani maupun rohani masyarakat dapat terus
terjaga. Usaha untuk mewujudkan harapan tersebut dimulai lewat sebuah kisah
penciptaan yang menjadi dasar untuk menuntut agar umat Yahudi taat terhadap
perintah, sehingga karenanya Allah akan memberi berkat. Kemudian, salah satu
usaha untuk menjaga agar tujuan itu tercapai terdapat dalam perintah untuk
beranakcucu. Bentuk seksualitas yang tidak menghasilkan anak dianggap merusak
tatanan dan mengancam kehidupan bersama. Namun demikian, dengan
perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan pergumulan konteks pada masa sekarang,
kisah penciptaan manusia dalam Kejadian 1:27-28 menjadi kurang relevan jika
digunakan untuk menolak keberadaan kaum LGBT. Sebaliknya, gereja perlu
memandang bahwa semua, manusia dengan berbagai bentuk seksualitasnya,
merupakan ciptaan Tuhan yang setara. Gereja harus membawa pembebasan bagi
mereka yang terus ada dalam penindasan dan mengajak bersama-sama merayakan
kasih dalam persekutuan tubuh Kristus.

Abstract
The intensity of the news and the visibility of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and
Transgender (LGBT) that has increased recently led to various responses from
the communities and churches in Indonesia to their existence. The story of man's
creation in Genesis 7: 27-28 then became one of the verses used as a church
reference in determining their attitude towards the existence of LGBT.
Understanding the context of the text in the past is important to understand what
the writer(s) and their community struggle from in that time and may help in
giving the meaning of the text in the present time. Therefore, this paper aims to
describe the background of writing the story of the man’s creation and give an
idea of sexuality or heteronormativity that may be on it. Socio-historical
approach, which put the writing of the story to the sixth century before common
era (BCE), help to reconstruct the conditions and struggles of the Judah people
who at the time lived during the period of the destruction of Judah until the
restoration of the temple and its cult. From the results of the study appears that,
in the recovery period, the authors of the text had hoped for creating an orderly
society, and maintained the sustainability of physical and spiritual life of the
society. Efforts to realize these hopes began through a creation story that became
the foundation for the Jewish people to obey the commands, so that the Lord will
give them blessings. Then, one of the efforts to actualize their aims is found in the
command of procreation. The sexuality that gives no child is considered
destructive of the order and as a thread to the society. However, if the church
wants to use the human creation story in Genesis 1:27-28 to reject or
discriminating the LGBT, the science progress and the different things that we are
struggling from in the contemporary context make it become less relevant.
Otherwise, the church needs to see that all human, whatever their sexuality
expression, are created equal. The curch should support the liberation for those
who are downtrodden and even invite them to celebrate the love of God in the
fellowship of the body of Christ.
