Statistical Test T-Test Data Analysis

Based on the counting of the formula above, it can be explained that: 1. The means of English scores from SMA is 2.88, with the highest GPA is 3.6 and the lowest is 1.4. Meanwhile the means of English scores from MA is 2.69, with the highest GPA is 3.4 and the lowest is 1.8. 2. The deviation standard of SMA S 1 is 0.60, and the deviation standard of MA S 2 is 0.45. 3. The result of T-test is 0.69. 4. T-table for the degree of significance 5 is 2.06, and the degree significance of 1 is 2.78. By comparing the values of t ₀= 0.69 and t table 2.78 and 2.06, the data calculated with statistical result shows that t ₀ is smaller than t table . So, the alternative hypothesis Ha is rejected and the null hypothesis H ₀ is accepted. It means there is no significance difference between Students from SMA and MA in their achievement in learning English.

D. Interpretation of Data

With the result found above, it can be clarified that there is no significant difference between students from SMA and MA in English achievement. The result of the t-test was 0.69, and it was smaller than t-table both in the degree significance of 5 and 1 2.06 0.692.78. So the null hypothesis Ho is accepted and the alternative hypothesis Ha is rejected. It can be interpreted that there is no significance influence between students who have graduated from SMA and MA in learning English. Even though there was fine superior of SMA than MA, but the result of hypothesis provenance concluded that the students’ educational background did not influence students’ achievement in learning English. Relating to the result above, the writer sees that MA has showed that this educational institution is sensible and can compete with other schools. The religious subjects that should be learned in this institution beside general subjects were not an obstacle, but those were feature as an educational institution based on religious values. In relation to this conclusion and looking at the previous research in chapter II that schools based religious values particularly Islamic schools were challenged to refine teaching and learning process, and now it have already been proved. The Islamic schools ongoing improve to give the best education. It showed from the standardization of teachers in all schools include Islamic school have to have educational bachelor SI in their professional teaching, and the graduated students are sensible to continue study to higher level or to get proper jobs. 63

CHAPTER V CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

A. Conclusion

Based on the result of the data analysis on the previous chapter, the writer concluded that the English score for students who had educational background from SMA and MA has no significant difference. With the result on the calculation by using t test, the writer got zero point sixty nine.Then, by using t table for the degree significance of five persent , she got two point six. At the degree significance of one percent she got two point seventy eight. Thus , the value of “t” is smaller than both t- table results. It means that students’ educational background does not influence students’ achievement in learning English. In connection with the conclusion above and referring to the previous studies in the chapter two, the writer sees the likeness on the reseach about school type in Indonesia. Whether islamic based school and secular school found no significant difference in the academic achievement. Eventhough, in dealing with Chinese Cristian school, Islamic based school like madrasah was left behind because of different purpose. Most Chinese perent sent their children to Cristian school for the quality of educational reasons; meanwhile most Moslem parent sent their children to Islamic based school for religious or cultural reasons beside the cost that cheaper that Cristian school. Thus, schools based religious values particularly Islamic schools were challenged to refine teaching and learning process, and now it have already been proved.
