5. SIMPULAN DAN SARAN 5.1 Simpulan
Penentuan kondisi proses aging yang meliputi suhu dan lama aging berdasarkan sifat fisikokimia MESA dan MES yaitu kandungan bahan aktif serta
berdasarkan kinerja surfaktan MESA dan MES dalam menurunkan tegangan permukaan. Proses aging terbaik yaitu kombinasi perlakuan suhu aging 80°C
dengan lama aging 60 menit. Karakteristik sifat fisikokimia MESA yang dihasilkan mempunyai kadar bahan aktif 23,51, pH 0,81, bilangan asam 19,87
mg KOHg, viskositas 100,13 cP, densitas 0,997 gml, dan warna 622 Klett. Sedangkan kinerja surfaktan MESA dalam menurunkan tegangan permukaan
sebesar 52 yaitu 34,75 dynecm. Surfaktan MES pada kondisi yang sama, mempunyai kadar bahan aktif 24,08 dan memiliki kinerja dalam menurunkan
tegangan permukaan sebesar 53,35 yaitu 34,60 dynecm
5.2 Saran
Mengacu pada hasil terbaik proses aging yaitu pada kombinasi perlakuan suhu aging 80°C dengan lama aging 60 menit maka perlu dilakukan kajian
optimasi proses aging methyl ester sulfonic acid MESA dengan suhu aging lebih rendah dari 80°C dengan lama aging antara 30 sampai 80 menit.
