b. Results of Surveying Available Support Services
The data regarding support services were obtained through interview and school observation. In SMA Pangudi Luhur Yogyakarta, the eleventh grade
students were divided into five classes: two science classes and three social classes. For teaching the eleventh grade, there were two English teachers. One
was in charge for teaching listening, speaking, and grammar, while the other handled reading, writing, and vocabulary. Both teachers were the graduates of
English Language Education Study Program of Sanata Dharma University with ten and seven-year teaching experiences. Their weekly teaching workloads were
33 and 25 hours. Then, they could not calculate the exact time needed in correcting students’ assignment and test. They usually corrected students’
assignments and tests during the free time they had in the school and after school but not at home.
Each class averagely consisted of 40 students, and was equipped with two whiteboards, board markers, a computer desktop with internet connection, a
viewer, a speaker, and an air conditioner. English was taught six hours per week where each hour lasted 45 minutes. Listening, speaking, and grammar were taught
in three hours while reading, writing and vocabulary were also taught in three hours.
The school had listening files stored in the language laboratory and the teachers’ room. Some of those listening files were the CDs of the previous
national examinations, Look Ahead CDs, CD of Longman, etc. The students could freely access the English readings stored in the school library, such as The Jakarta

laboratory. In teaching, teachers very often used printed materials. Teachers always
copied the materials in the administration room. Teachers could access this facilitiy freely while the students had to pay some amount of money if they
wanted to copy printed materials.
From the information above, the writer concludes that the necessary support services to implement the vocabulary supplementary materials are
available in the school. In addition, the teachers were experienced. Though they never checked students’ works at home, they always used their free time in the
school or after the school very effectively to check students’ assignments or tests. In brief, the resuts of surveying available support services are mentioned
