should be normal but he changes it, like the tone of speaking is high to say that is no problem.
She knew by his tone that he wasn’t telling the truth, but she didn’t think there was anything she could say
that would make him feel any better. P.289
3.3.2 Supporting Character
This novel consists of many characters but the author analyzes only characters that are dominant to participant in the story because to limit the
analyzing so that not be superfluous. The supporting characters are Deana, Kevin, and Jeb Blake.
First, Deana is the best friend of Theresa, she is older than Theresa. She associates to Theresa closely even though she is a Manager at where Theresa works. She is
humble person because not differentiate Theresa to herself. “...Deana was the best friend she had... the managing
editor at the news paper where Theresa worked.” P.9
Deana helps Theresa to find Garret, gives motivation to not give up face the problem. She supports Theresa Go to Wilmington without think take leave
from the working; she gives opportunity leave to Theresa. She is very kind, helps the people who need the help.
Deana held out the slip of paper with the name. Theresa hesitated Deana looked at her for a moment

Second, Kevin is son of Theresa. He is smart boy according to his mother.
He is together with her mother to do activities at home such as watching TV, to finish assignment from school and so on. He is also support her mother to marry
with Garret, and aware to have a new father to help them. Kevin likes to practice the new thing like diving which touch by Garret. From the conversation bellow,
Kevin helps her mother to love Garret because no problem anymore from Theresa about Kevin.
Kevin suddenly turned to her and asked: “Mom, do you like Garret?”
“Yes, I do. But more important, do you like him?” “I think he’s cool. For a grownup, I mean.”
“Mom, can I ask you something?” “Anything”
“Are you gonna marry Garret?” “I don’t know. Why?”
“Do you want to?” Third, Jeb Blake is father of Garret. He is old man but can do his job. He is
widower for long time. He feels alone because her wife is not together with him anymore, because of that he force his son who is widower too. He doesn’t want
his experience will be happen to Garret therefore he supports Garret marries to Theresa.
