Overview:
Shanghai Int ernat ional Grand Prix Circuit is reput ed t o be Asias most advanced Grand Prix Circuit . Having complet ed it s inaugural year, t his Chinese Grand Prix is
poised t o be t he maj or Grand Prix of t he F1 Circuit . The grandst and of t he racing field is designed t o have 200 t housand seat s, 50
t housand of which are on t he main and sub grandst ands, and t he remaining seat s are t emporary seat s on t he slopes. The main archit ect ure and ot her main buildings
of t he racing field cover 150 t housand square met ers, including t he main and sub grandst ands, direct cent er, news cent er, race t eam living zone, and pit st ops, et c.
The archit ect ures combined t he modern design concept wit h t radit ional Chinese cult ure. Once t he racing field const ruct ion is finished, it will bring new energies t o
t he vigorous Shanghai cit y. Shanghai Int ernat ional Circuit is locat ed on nort heast of Ant ing Township in t he
Jiading Dist rict of Shanghai, an old count y wit h a kind folkway, neighbouring t he world famous Shanghai Int ernat ional Aut o Cit y, 30 km from t he cent er of Shanghai
cit y and 20 km t o Hongqiao Int ernat ional airport . It is surrounded by high grade highways of Jiaj inA5, Jiasong, and A30, et c., and t he planned mass t ransit line R3
will reach t he racing field direct ly.
History:
The dist inct ive circuit , which in sheer size will overshadow every ot her circuit in t he World Championship, incorporat es 14 wide-ranging corners - an equal blend of
left - and right -handers t hat combine t o form a 5.45-kilomet re 3.39- mile lap. Viewed f rom overhead, t he circuit s shape is redolent of t he Chinese symbol
Shang, which t ranslat es as high or above. According t o comput er simulat ions, current -generat ion Formula One cars will lap t he t rack in about 1m 34s at an
average speed close t o 205 km h 127.4 mph. On t he longest , 1175-met re st raight , which links Turns 13 and 14, cars should reach a maximum speed of 327
km h 203mph. The circuit s design and layout provide t he drivers wit h t hat crucial ingredient -
overt aking opport unit ies. Those t hat have seen t he circuit are convinced t hat t he new Shanghai Int ernat ional Circuit will provide spect at ors and t elevision viewers
alike wit h a great spect acle and a great race.
