CHAPTER IV RESEARCH FINDING AND DISCUSSION
In this chapter, the writer discusses the research finding and the analysis findings gathered from survey study. The discussions include the data
presentation and the description, the data discussion and also the material presentation. The discussions aim to answer two problem formulations which
were stated in Chapter I. The problems are “How is a set of English speaking instructional materials using on MI theory for the Level I of English Mastery class
of Titian Foundation designed?” and “What does the speaking instructional material using MI approach for Level I of English Mastery Program in Titian
Foundation look like?”
A. The Steps in Designing the Material
Conducting this research, the writer adapted Borg and Gall’s 1983 Research and Development RD in designing the materials. RD cycle was a
method employed in this study. There are ten steps to conduct in designing the materials based on Borg and Gall. However, the writer took only five out of ten
steps of the RD Cycle due to the limitation of the study. These four steps were also used to answer the first question in the problem formulation about how to
design a set of English speaking instructional materials using on MI theory for the Level I of English Mastery class of Titian Foundation. The steps are presented as
follows:

1. Research and Information Collecting
Before the writer designed the developing materials, she had done some steps to gather information. The information was about English Mastery available
and MI of the students. The information gathered hopefully could be used to help the writer in designing the English speaking material.
a. Data of Respondents
For the need of research, the writers asked for some students to be respondents of the research. The respondents are students of English Mastery of
Level 1. There are six respondents who participated in gathering the research data through answering questionnaire. The data of the respondents are presented in the
table below. To be noted, the names in the table are not the real names of the participants in order to keep the respondents’ privacy.

public schools, all of them are in the first grade of seniorvocational high school. The range of the students’ age is 15 to 16 years old.
