b. The Result of the Interview

The interview held was used to gather information which could be used to help the writer design the English speaking material. The interview was done through informal interview see Appendix D. The information gathered was about the purpose of developing English Mastery’s module of Level I which is including materials, resources and methodologies which were used. Based on the result of the interview with the tutors’ coordinator and the students, a development of the module of English Mastery Program for Level 1 is needed. The development is needed since the students’ knowledge is changing. Therefore, the module of English Mastery can help and facilitate the students’ need. The materials in the module hopefully can support their English they have got at school and their English which is used in their daily life. Since the purpose of the development module for Level I of English Mastery is to facilitate students’ need and to support their English they have gotten at school, the writer decided to make the topics based on the last module used which are related to their daily life. The writer decided to use some topics from the last module since the topics are 49 relatively easy and commonly used by the students in their daily life.

c. The Result of Questionnaire

Before designing the material, the writer should gather the data. There were two types of data gathering techniques used to gather data research. Those two kinds of data gathering techniques were a set of close-and-open ended questionnaire and MI inventory. Both of them were conducted on Wednesday, March 24 th , 2015 at Titian Foundation. The data was gathered from one class which consisted of 6 students. All of them were senior high school students. The first one was close-ended and open-ended questionnaire. This close- ended questionnaire consisted of 2 multiple choices about language that students use. The writer tried to find out what language that usually used by the students in their daily life. The writer also tried to find out how long the students learn English. They only use English when they learn English subject at school. All of the students use Javanese which is their mother tongue, and some others also use Indonesian. It means that 6 students or 100 of 50 the students use Javanese in their daily life. 4 of them or 66.66 of the students also use Indonesian language to communicate in their neighborhood. The next close-ended questionnaire is a set of statement. There are 14 statements in which the students had to give their assessment on 4 points of agreement: 1= if you strongly disagree with the statement 2= if you disagree with the statement 3= if you agree with the statement 4= if you strongly agree with the statement Those statements regarded to know the students’ opinion on module which already used before.
