related to vocabulary such as fill in the blank, puzzle, crosswords, etc. Next criterion was to evaluate pronunciation work. This criterion was
fulfilled because this textbook provides materials for pronunciation work. There is “Key to Pronunciation” part which covers phonetic symbols and the way to
pronounce it. This textbook also provides phonetic transcription in every vocabulary list to help the students pronounce it correctly. The forth criterion was
fulfilled because this textbook provides materials which help students to develop their discourse competence. There are many expressions provided which
commonly used in daily conversation. By learning those expressions the students are expected to make meaningful conversations. The last criterion was about style
and appropriacy. Having a good style and appropriacy can be seen from the ability to choose formal and informal expressions in conversation and a written text. This
criterion was not fulfilled because this textbook does not give formal and informal expressions.
4. Skills
There were four aspects in skills evaluation. The first aspect was about overall skills. It covered two criteria; the availability of four skills and the
integration of skills work. This aspect achieved 100 completion and it was considered a good fulfilment.

High School Student X covers all four skills. There are ten units in this textbook and each unit explores all skills deeply. The second criterion was about integrated
skills work. It was fulfilled because there are materials for integrated skills work. Listening skill is integrated with speaking skill, while reading skill is integrated
with writing skill. The second table was to evaluate listening skill. There were five criteria in
listening skill evaluation. This aspect completed three out of five criteria. It was 60 achievement or considered a poor fulfilment.

48 The first criterion of this table was about to know whether the listening
material is well recorded. It was not fulfilled because Interlanguage: English for Senior High School Student X is not accompanied with recorded material. To
overcome it, listening scripts are provided. Second criterion was to know whether the listening material accompanied by background information. This criterion was
fulfilled because listening activities in this textbook are accompanied by the information about the situation the students will hear.
Next criterion was to know whether the listening material accompanied by questions. This criterion was fulfilled because there are questions in listening
activities. The forth criterion was about the availability of listening activities. This criterion was fulfilled because listening activities are provided, such as fill in the
blanks, matching pictures, etc. The last criterion was not fulfilled because building the context and linking related text are not covered in this textbook.
Next is speaking skill evaluation. It covered two criteria. The result of the speaking evaluation was sufficient. It was because speaking aspect fulfilled one
out of two criteria or 50 achievement.
