examples of Indonesian culture are traditional ceremony funeral ceremony in Toraja and Javanese wedding ceremony and traditional food, such as Gudeg
Jogja, Satay Ayam Madura, Coto Makassar, pempek, etc. The forth criterion was to know whether the sophistication of the material is suitable with students’
language level or not. This criterion was fulfilled because this textbook provides materials which are suitable with learners’ language level based on Curriculum
2006. The next criterion was to know whether the textbook allows the students to
relate the social and cultural contexts presented or not. This criterion was fulfilled because this textbook provides materials about Indonesian and worldwide culture.
There are also activities which require students to find more information about certain culture. The sixth criterion was to know whether women are portrayed and
represented equally with men or not. This criterion was fulfilled because this textbook makes no distinction between men and women. The last criterion in this
aspect was about the availability of representation other groups ethnic, origin, occupation, disability, etc in this textbook. This criterion was fulfilled because
there are materials discussing those aspects generally.
6. Methodology
There were seven criteria in methodology evaluation. This aspect fulfilled five criteria or 80 achievement. The result was considered a good fulfilment.

The first criterion was to know whether this textbook allows active learner involvement or not. This criterion was fulfilled because this textbook provides
activities that lead the students to be active and involved in classroom activities, such as making dialogues and perform it in front of the class, composing a text
then present it, doing role play, etc. Second criterion was to know whether the techniques for presenting or
practicing new language items are suitable for learners or not. This criterion was fulfilled because the techniques for presenting or practicing new language items in
this textbook are suitable for the learners. The next criterion was to know whether this textbook develops students’ communicative abilities or not. This criterion was
fulfilled because this textbook provides expressions which are useful in developing students’ communicative abilities by giving some expressions used in
daily conversation and related activities. The fifth criterion was to know the availability of advice or help to
students on study skills and learning strategies. Although this textbook provides
55 reflection sections, this criterion was not fulfilled because there is no advice or
help for the students. The last criterion was to know whether the students are expected to take a degree of responsibility for their own learning. This criterion
was fulfilled because this textbook provides activities that give opportunity for the students to be responsible for their own learning by providing individual and
group activities.
