G. The Statistical Hypotheses
Before obtaining the result of this research, below would be presented the hypotheses:
Ho : {
} Ha :
{ }
Notes:
Ho = Null hypothesis Ha = Alternative hypothesis
μ
1
= S tudents‟ reading comprehension achievement, who were taught through
Collaborative Strategic Reading CSR. μ
2
= S tudents‟ reading comprehension achievement, who were taught without
Collaborative Strategic Reading CSR The writer‟s assumption of those hypotheses are as follow:
1. If t
o
t
table
, the Null Hypothesis H
o
was rejected and alternative hypothesis Ha was accepted. It means there was a significant difference
of students‟ reading comprehension achievement between students who were taught through Collaborative Strategic Reading CSR and students
who are taught through Grammar Translation Method GTM. 2. If t
o
t

, the Null hypothesis H
o
was accepted and alternative hypothesis Ha was rejected. It means there was no a significant
difference of students‟ reading comprehension achievement between students who were taught through Collaborative Strategic Reading CSR
and students who are taught through Grammar Translation Method GTM.

CHAPTER IV RESEARCH FINDINGS AND INTERPRETATION
This chapter presents findings of the study. The findings describe into the data description, the data analysis, and the data interpretation.
A. Research Findings
1. Data Description
The writer will show the general description of students‟ scores in both the
experimental class and the control class. The description is divided into some sections: the pre-test scores, the post-test scores, and the gained scores.
a. The Pre-test Scores
Table 4.1 reports the students‟ pre-test scores of the experimental class and the control class. There are 30 students in both the experimental class and the
controlled class. Table 4.1

The above table shows the students‟ pre-test scores of the experimental class
and the controlled class. The test was given in the first meeting before giving any treatment. Both the experimental class and the controlled class have 35 as the
lowest score of pre-test, 50 as the median score, and 75 as the highest score. Besides, the mean score of experimental class is 54.67 and the controlled class is
57.16. Hence, it can be concluded that the pre-test scores of the experimental class and the controlled class seemed to be equivalent.
