when people saw him, they will run or shout. Everybody hates him. This condition made him to hate everybody, too. That is why he was a hateful person. ―Erik was born in a small town tot far from Rouen. He was the son of a master- mason. He ran away at an early age from his father‘s house, where his ugliness was a subject of horror and terror to his parents p.259. After falling in love with Christine, Eric wanted to try his new life as normal as everybody else. Eric dreamed to have a wife like other people. He wanted to have a happy family like other people. Eric dreamed that he wanted to have such a normal life like other people. So, Eric changed his life after Eric got the kiss from Christine because his whole life is full of cruel, selfish and hateful. Finally, he changes his mind and he releases Christine and Raoul because Eric does not want to hurt Christine as his obsessed love.

a. Caring Person

The influence of love toward Eric ‘s personality is that he became a caring person. He knew that people hate Eric so much. So Eric will hate everyone if they bother his love process. He changes his personality because of Christine kissed Eric. Christine ‘s kissed Eric because she has to sacrifice for Raoul because the situation at that time was so bad. Eric looks very angry and afraid because Christine did not accept E ric‘s love while Persian and Raoul entered the chamber to help Christine. That condition was very rough for Eric. If Christine did not kiss Eric, Eric would destroy the entire of Opera House using explosives. He has a plan in the cellars, killing them and everyone above the floors. However, Christine ‘s lover and Persian were at the chamber which is a dangerous room. So, Christine kissed Eric for saving all of them. Eric received a kiss from Christine. Thus, his personality changes to be caring person. ―My mother, darogh, my poor, unhappy mother would never.. let me kiss her...She used to run away.. and throw me my mask... Nor any other woman.. ever, ever. Ah you can understand my happiness was so great, I cried. And I fell at her feet, crying... and I kissed her feet... her little feet.. crying You‘re crying, too, daroga... and she cried also... the angel cried‖p.251. This evidence showed t hat Eric‘s personality changes to be a tender and caring person because he found his happiness after Christine kissed him. Eric was a strong person but his emotion moved to be tender because of the happiness of the kiss. Now, Eric changes to be a kind hearted man. He cares about Christine. His cares to Christine can be seen from his action that he finally release the Persian, Raoul and Christine, because when Eric was alone with Christine he lifts his mask a little to kiss her on the forehead, and Christine allows him to do this. Eric, who admits that he has never before in his life received or been allowed to give a kiss not even from his own mother, is overcome with emotion. ―She remained alive, weeping over me, with me. We cried together I have tested all the happiness the world can offer‖ p. 251. This evidence showed us that Eric was happy. Eric‘s happiness changes his hateful personality to be a caring person. It is because in the whole of his life, he never to be happy, he never being loved, and he never got a kiss. The incident of that kissing changes Eric‘s life and mind. He, then, thinks that Raoul and Christine have to live together because they love each other. ― I know you love the boy..... don‘t cry anymore.........but that she could marry the young man when she pleased, because she had cried with me and mingled her tears with mine‖ p. 252. This evidence showed us that Eric loved Christine, but Eric knows that Christine loves Raoul. It means that even he loves Christine but he still cares of Christine ‘s love. He has to help Christine to live together with her lover, Raoul.

b. Generous

Most of the people are not free from the money. Eric was the same. When Eric worked hard at the Shah in Shah, he proves himself a gifted architect, to construct an elaborate palace, Mazenderan. But he has to escape from the Shah because the Shah orders Eric ‘s execution. Eric‘s life is not normal. Eric himself laments the fact that his mother was horrified by his appearance and is said to have abandoned him and that his father, a master mason, never saw him. On the other side, Eric is also known as the ―Opera Ghost‖, the ― Angel of Music‖, and attends a mosquirade as a ―Red Death‖ Since his life is not normal, Eric is tired of his nomadic life in which all about earn money, too. Because of this, Eric becomes a selfish man for getting the money he thought belonged to him. In the beginning of the story Eric is a selfish person. He only cares about himself. He tried to possess his money and the box five the place to perform in the Opera House. Eric was a selfish man because he forced the manager in the Opera House to give all of the money for him and he will not share the box five in the opera house. The condition of his life forced Eric to be a selfish person, because he can not earn money normally as what other people do by working in the office or find a job.
