1. Students are expected to able to express the meaning and rhetorical steps in the form of descriptive text. 2. Students are expected to be able to identify the generic structure of descriptive text. 3. Students are expected to be able to identify the use of auxiliary correctly. 4. Students are expected to be able to write sentences about descriptive text through a mind map.

Generic structure of descriptive text A descriptive text focuses on describing a particular person, places or things. There are two main parts of descriptive text: • Identification: It identifies things or objects that is going to be described. It is the part of the paragraph that introduces the character. • Description: It describes the parts, qualities, and characteristics of the objects Using simple present tense is an important thing in describing something, e.g. is, make, have, and tell. 159 Explanation Example Is; used when it is singular There is a book.
