Social Wrongs RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

60 strategies, in the end, can prove that KPK ‘s working performance is not eligible and trigger the Representatives with the recent president, Joko Widodo, to react recently within the making of the draft revision of the Law Commission no. 302002. The efforts to degrade KPK are the main problem. This condition can damage sustainability of struggle for ‗Indonesian Unity‘ and stability of Indonesia government agency because different opinions appear to state implicitly in anti-corruption discourse whether KPK existence is still needed to eradicate corruption or not. The post-recruitment process, the KPK commissioners face the opinion that if an institution like KPK fails to hire the correct people, it would be unable to achieve the desired results Hardjapamekas 2006: 176. Since the four commissioners have been charged for corruption, those who against KPK declare this new-born commission has continued working for more or less than a decade and now are ineligible. Moreover, it is difficult to trust KPK as the superiorsuper body if the commissioners are also corruptors. They misuse the ‗given‘ power. The efforts eradicating corruption recently seem useless unless the KPK ‘s authority is stated clearly in the revision of commission law. Even though the context of law commission revision draft does not involve in the text, for researcher this discursive practice is really helpful to find the foundation of the socio-political condition in Indonesia recently. Bourdieu 1991 states that through the competition between the agents involved in the political field, political products e.g. issues, programs, analyses, commentaries, concepts, and events are created, and as the result, ordinary citizens have to 61 choose with the running a risk of misunderstanding unless for they whose capacity is to produce and reproduce problematic political interest. The major concern firstly comes from social problems in such social order about how corruption practices are still concealed by politicians who hold great capitals especially symbolic capital and why KPK are merely weakened by common efforts exercises instead of using so much legal movement. Secondly, this study should focus on another social problem, politicization. Media plays a role through social practices as a site of politics. The politicization of media emerges to the involvement of society to speak publicly ‗words wreak havoc‘. The language use in media like the choice of vocabulary, metaphor, cliché and proverbs can draw the legitimacy and authority to exert the power objectifying unformulated experiences of the world. The media role seems to represent the naming power of what civil society would like to say and, by using its values media tries to construct public opinion Matheson, 2005. Sartre in Bourdieu 2008 makes a reference to ―when they words find a name for what had up to be namelessly ‖. Hence, it is manifested by fram ing ‗corruption‘ in The Jakarta Post TJP news article. The news ‘ position clearly defines especially about the corruption Subjects: Suryadharma Ali SDA who is the senior politician and general leader of United Development Party PPP occupying the religious affair minister and Sutan Batoeghana SB who is the senior politician of Democrat Party occupying the head of Commission VII on energy at the House of Representatives. For example: 4. Indonesian Legal Roundtable ILR researcher Erwin Natosmal said Suryadharma had made use of the weakened position of the KPK that 62 resulted from multiple attacks that it withstood in the current crisis. 56, VI, A 5. Democratic Party central board member Benny Kabur Harman said the party had anticipated that the Corruption Eradication Commission KPK would move to arrest senior Dems politician Sutan Bhatoegana. 3, I, F Indicated in bold, media tends to place its argument whether support anti- corruption practices. By employing Erwin Natosmal ‘s statement in sentence 4, TJP intends to show its interest in reporting SDA about the failure of the anti- corruption movement. The strategy of avoiding investigation and detention are taken because KPK ‘s authority is weakened. Moreover, in the sentence 5, TJP intends to show its interest in quoting Benny Kabur Herman ‘s statement in relation to his political position in Democratic Party. The implication of his indirect statement is that TJP shows its support KPK‘s law enforcement. Public participation is of the essence in the fight against corruption Hardjapamekas, 2006. The researcher concludes: first, the language used by the journalists can indicate their knowledge, perception, norm, belief and value as an important semiotic aspect in this analysis and, second, TJP‘s inconsistency can influence certain reader whether support anti-corruption practices.

4.2 Obstacles to Social Wrong Being Tackled

This section helps the researcher to answer research question number two and shows the ideologies found in The Jakarta Post TJP news texts about Suryadharma Ali‘s and Sutan Bhatoegana‘s corruption case. By questioning implicitly how social life is organized and structured, this analysis can find why social wrongs are forbidden to tackle. Systemic Functional Grammar SFG PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI 63 analysis is employed here to identify the ideological text. The analysis is begun with the first obstacle, a network of social practices which constitute orders of discourse. The second is dialectical relations between semiosis and other social elements: between orders of discourse and other elements of social practices, between texts and other elements of events. The last remains to the focuses and the categories in the selected texts for the further analysis of semiosis, in the searching of meaning-making Fairclough, 2005.

4.2.1 The Network of Social Practices

First of all, the researcher starts with the network of practices which texts are located within an order of discoursesocial and discursive practices and textsocial event. The network of practices in this study considers being a set of related different socio-cultural practices. They are constituted semiotically and integrated into the field of political corruption. The data to observe the practices is TJP‘s ideological statements and language strategies in six texts which reporting SDA and SB as governmental corruptors opposed to KPK. Corruption practices are located in one of the particular social practices found in the text. These following data consider being the object of semiosis so that the meaning of corruption itself appears within context. By employing Fairclough ‘s three-dimensional framework, the researcher provides a readable analysis of SDA articles in order to understand the ideologies and the language strategies which are being the social and discursive practices. Table 4.1 below summarizes the ideologies, TJP‘s strategy, the occurrence percentage and the examples based on three SDA news articles.
