learning process. Once the teacher forms the pairs and appoint the leader, they are distributed a learning material in form of selected graphic organizers. This
selection is needed to suit the types of the reading texts. In note-taking pairs, first the student individually takes the notes from
reading material by using guided graphic organizers. Then they check the answer each other. If there is a friend who cannot answer correctly, another students
should help herhim by explaining the material or ask the teacher. in this stage each member of the group should help each other and make sure they are really
understand the material and know how to solve the exercise or the problem in the guided paper. This work will be done at least 12 meetings with different types of
reading texts. At the end of each meeting, the students and the teacher will discuss
to make sure the entire class gets the understanding of the material.
Based on the discussion above, it is assumed that the students who are taught using Note-Taking Pairs technique have better reading competence than the
students who are taught using DR-TA technique.
2. The difference between the students who have high linguistic intelligence
and the students who have low linguistic intelligence
The students who have high level of linguistic intelligence will have a better attitude in following the teaching and learning process. They will pay much
attention to the teacher’s instruction. All the activities in the class will be done actively and do the task correctly. It is not easier for them to give up and get bored

than the students who have low level linguistic intelligence. If they do not understand the teacher’s instruction, they will not shy to ask about it.
On the contrary, the students who have low level of linguistic intelligence usually have more difficulties in joining the teaching learning process. Students
who have low level of linguistic intelligence have low ability of recognizing the pattern of words, spelling and grammar, where it is fundamental for the students
to comprehend a reading text better. Teacher, then, may take more parts in helping them to get the clear understanding of the text. It makes the students less
independent in doing their reading activity themselves. They rely more on the teacher andor their friends. Worse, it is easier for them to give up and get bored.
They will even just become follower what their friends doing. Based on the discussion above, it is assumed that the students who have
high level of linguistic intelligence have better reading competence than the students who have low level of linguistic intelligence.
3. Interaction between techniques of teaching and student’s linguistic
intelligence.
In the teaching and learning process, it is important for the teacher to use an appropriate technique in the class. It is because the technique which is used by
the teacher will give a big influence to the goal of teaching and learning process. The suitable technique is needed to motivate and stimulate their interest and
intelligent especially in reading process. DR-TA technique cannot motivate and stimulate the students because it just focuses on teacher’s instruction.

Note-Taking Pairs gives a better influence to students who have high level linguistic intelligence, because by using this technique the teacher will try to teach
reading in pair and independently. They will not depend on the teacher’s explanation. They will try to find the message and the meaning of the text by
themselves. The teacher not only teaches practice performance but also academic content by developing their social relation with other students. This technique is
supposed to have better influence to students having high linguistic intelligence. Linguistic intelligence itself gives a big influence in learning process.
Generally, the students who have high intelligence will accept the lessons easily. Linguistic intelligence also especially can improve the student’s reading
competency. If they have a good reading competency, they will be able to read and comprehend many texts easily. They are easy to comprehend whatever texts
are given to them. DR-TA technique seems satisfy for the students who have low linguistic
intelligence in joining the class. They don’t need to be active and usually wait to the teacher’s explanation about the text and friend’s helping in completing the
task. This technique makes the students passive in reading class. Based on the discussion above, it is assumed that the students who have
high linguistic intelligence are better taught using Note-Taking Pairs technique, and the students who have low linguistic intelligence are better taught using DR-
TA technique.
