Based on the sample of the second interview, participant A undoubtedly told her idea of what game she wished to play. Her response of two subjects
showed her idea about them. From the interview, it can be concluded that the participants actually expect some innovations in their learning activities.
4.2 Narrations of the Participants
There were two participants in this study and they were in the fifth grade of elementary school. These participants were best friends who had been studying
since they were in kindergarten. They were chosen from classroom observations. For this study, they shared their thought about the meaning they felt from playing
a computerized educational game. In this part, I present a brief summary of the participants concluded from
the classroom observations, observations during playing game, and interview. Finding out the participants and their background helps understanding their
perception about meaning. The participants were chosen based on some criteria to be achieved. As mentioned in the previous chapter, the participants should be
learners with hearing difficulty, learn English in either school or a course ever play a computer game in either a CPU or a laptop, and be accessible for the study.
The first two criteria were informed by the teachers at school. Meanwhile, the third criteria needed to be personally asked to the learners. The last criterion was
considered from the learners’ availability for this study. Out of five learners in the fifth grade, there were only three learners – two female and one male – staying in
the school dormitory. The school provides a dormitory to accommodate some learners whose house is distant from the school. Few learners, in fact, came from
out of town. In the dormitory, the learners also get meal, bed, and a space for studying. Therefore, those three learners were finally reconsidered again, while
the others go back to their house instead of being in the dormitory. From the English teacher’s information, I found that the male learner is included in two
categories of learners with special needs, namely hearing difficulty ABK B and mental retardation ABK C. Meanwhile, the two female learners stay in the
dormitory from Monday to Friday. They only go back home on weekend. Regarding to this reason, I decided the two female learners as my participants.
After spending my time with the learners for a month and chatting with the fifth grade teacher and the English teacher, along with my engagement with the
participants, I noted some information about them. The personal information includes the age, name of village and city where the participants live, type of
suffered hearing loss, parents’ occupation, and number of sibling. Different familial background will give different way in perceiving everything. below is a

4.2.1 Participant A
Participant A was 14 years old when this study was conducted. She is the last child out of two children. She lives in Ketep village, Magelang. Since the far
distance of her house, her parents put her in the dormitory. The first reason, she said, were because her parents did not want people to trick her since it was easier
