ABSTRACT
Degenerative procces were normal in older people, but impact of hormonal inbalance in
elderly have influenced mental state of older women. There were several adaptation
mechanism of subject to avoid clinical manifestation of mental disorders such as suppression,
realitiy anticipation, altruism and develop sense of humor. Objective of this study to know
association aptative mechanism of older women to face menopause periode with mental
health state. Study was a descriptive analytic with crossectional design. Study was done in
village region in Aur Birugo Tigobaleh Bukittinggi. Sample have been taken with systematic
simple random sampling. After excluded several criteria, sample have gotten 104 subjects.
Primary data were gotten with interview guiding technic and analyzed with X2 formula
