ABSTRACT
Chemotherapy in pediatric patients using non antibiotic cytotoxics which
cause side effects in major organs, such as kidney function decline. Kidney
function decline can be seen from Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR). Value of
GFR in children can be calculated using the Schwartz and Counahan-Barratt (CB)
formula. This study aims to learn non antibiotic cytotoxics use in chemotherapy
treatment of children based on GFR according Schwartz and CB formula in RSUP
Dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta in 2010.
This study is an observational descriptive evaluative with retrospective
design using 118 patients with 704 prescription cases. This study’s datas include
age, height, weight, and creatinine serum. Qualitative data that we got then
discussed on description, table, and diagram.
The results describe in chemotherapy pediatric patient at RSUP Dr.
Sardjito Yogyakarta in 2010 which had the largest value of GFR is stage 1
(normal renal function) for 89,4% (Schwartz formula) and for 62,6% (CB
formula), which need adjustment doses non antibiotic cytotoxic are for 1,0%
(Schwartz formula) and 3,2% (CB formula), and which had inconsistency dose are
1 case (Schwartz formula) and 5 cases (CB formula) include etoposide, Lasparginase, and cyclophosphamid.

Abstract: Approximately 11.000 new child cancer cases per annum. An appropriate cytostatic
drug regimen can worse renal function. Aims of this research to determine the use of cytotoxic in
children chemotherapy based on GFR according Schwartz and CB formulas in RSUP Dr.
Sardjito Yogyakarta 2010 period. Cytotoxic drugs include antibiotic and non antibiotic
cytotoxics. An observational descriptive evaluative study with retrospective design was done.
Inclusion criteria were patient 0 – 12 years with creatinine serum data and exclusion criteria
were acute or chronic kidney failure with creatinine serum >5 mg/dL. The data taken were
patient's age, height, weight, and creatinine serum. Adjustment doses was evaluated based on
GFR
