be in line with the statement of belief about the nature of English English is much more difficult to learn than other languages Richards
and Lockhart, 2005. Even when learners were actually been exposed with English since they are in elementary level, it appears that learning
English has its own difficulties, even with the advance in second language learning process, conflicts between L1 and second language
knowledge may cause greater difficulties Kövecses, 2001. For the responses to item 2, there is 46 of the learners made
decisions and set their goals in learning frequently. This item refer to refer to different goals learners set for their language learning as I just
want to be able to make myself understood and I‟d like to be able to write well in English Richard and Lockhart, 2005
The responses to the item 3 show that only 2 of them made good use of their free time in studying English. This reflect on their
enthusiasm in learning, and regarding to autonomous learning this item refers to “they are likely to be more enthusiastic about learning”
Littlejohn, 1985 that reflects how autonomous learners feel about their learning.
In order to view their awareness in average, the biased mean and the grand mean were calculated. The table shows the mean of 2.75 for the
item 1, 4.01 for the item 2 and 2.47 for the item 3. The grand mean 3.076 also shows that the learners were in average level of aware in their
learning.
