CHAPTER V CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS
This chapter is going to discuss two parts. The first part discusses about the conclusion of the study. The second part discusses about the suggestions that
are expected to help the English teacher, the students of SD Percobaan 3 Pakem, and the future researchers.
A. Conclusion
The study was to design integrated English instructional materials for the fifth grade students of SD Percobaan 3 Pakem. This study formulated two
problems. Those problems are: 1 How is a set of integrated English instructional materials based on Suggestopedia method of fifth grade students in SD Percobaan
3 Pakem designed ? 2 What does the designed set of integrated English
instructional materials based on Suggestopedia method of fifth grade students in SD Percobaan 3 Pakem
look like? In this study, the writer applied RD method. RD consists of ten steps.
However, this study only applied step 1 up to step 5 because the writer did not apply the designed material to the students. Those steps were 1 Research and
Information Collecting 2 Planning 3 Developing Preliminary Form of Product 4 Preliminary Field Testing 5 Main Product Revision.
In order to answer the first question, the writer employed two instructional models proposed by Kemp’s and Yalden’s. The writer used these two

instructional models because the combination reveals clear and complete steps to design the materials. Those steps are 1 conducting needs survey, 2 specifying
goals topics and general purposes, 3 formulating learning objectives, 4 selecting and organizing contents, 5 selecting learning activities and resources,
and 6 materials evaluation. In addition, the instructional models applied were appropriate with RD method employed by the writer.
In order to answer the second question, the writer presents the final version of the set of integrated English instructional materials for the fifth grade
students of SD Percobaan 3 Pakem. The designed materials contain four units. Those four units are as follows.
UNIT 1 : My Family UNIT 2 : Profession
UNIT 3 : Hobby UNIT 4 : My Favorite Figure
Each unit is divided into three parts, namely The Pre-Session phase
contains the warming up activity to introduce the material to the students with the
pleasant and easy way. The Session Phase is the main activity of each meeting.
It contains various activities that integrate the four skills; it also contains the
grammar discussion. The Post Session Phase contains the elaboration of the
material in each meeting. The elaborations include playing game, singing a song,
reading monologue, and reading an extra text. And The Evaluation Phase; in this
phase, the students would do a test. The evaluation involves the material of four

units. This evaluation was aimed to measure the students’ understanding in mastering the four units.
To evaluate the designed materials, the writer distributed questionnaire to three respondents. The respondents gave positive responses by stating that the
materials were interesting, creative, and well-developed. The data from the material evaluation questionnaire were analyzed using central tendency. The
results showed that the mean ranged from 3.6 up to 5 on the scale of 5. This showed that the materials were acceptable and appropriate for the fifth grade
students of SD Percobaan 3 Pakem. However, the material needed crucial revison in 3.6 scale.
B. Suggestions
