were two English teachers of SMA STELLA DUCE 1 Yogyakarta and the experts were two lecturers of English Language Education Study Program of Sanata
Dharma University. The purpose of this step was to obtain feedbacks, comments, and evaluation from the participants so that the writer would be able to revise and
present the final revision of the designed materials.
9. Revising the Designed Materials
After gaining the evaluations from the participants on the materials design, the writer revised the materials. The revisions were based on the feedback and the
suggestions from the participants. After doing the revisions, the writer presented the final version of the reading instructional materials.
B. The Designed materials
In this part, the writer discusses the results of the material development. The explanations are as follows:
1. The Competency Standards, the Basic Competencies, and the Topics
Based on the results of the diagnosis of needs, from twelve topics provided, the students chose eight topics. The topics were Culture, Modern Life, Film, Music,
Health, Sport, Mystery and Imagination, and Caring for Nature. The topics would be the title of each unit.
Then, the choices of the texts were based on the topics. The texts were: It’s Carnival Time, Body Worlds – Under the Skin, The Iron Man, American Idol: And
There Were Nine or “Someone Has to Go”, Natural Bee Sting Remedy and Wasp sting Remedy: “Bee Prepared” with Knowledge, Indonesia Says On Course to
Reclaim Thomas Cup, David Blaine – the New Houdini ?, People Power Can Save Environment.
The choices of the topics and the reading texts are in Table 4.1 below:

from the Curriculum 2006. The sample of the competency standards and the basic competencies are presented in Table 4.1. The competency standards and the basic
